Naw man, think back, we won the cold war, pre 9/11 we didn't really worry about terrorism our biggest problems was whether slick willy inhaled or not.

Plus, light-up sneakers.
No terrorism? Did I imagine the bombing of the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City? Or the WTC bombing? The US embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania? Man, I wish we had nothing more to worry about than a president having smoked pot in college...

Oh there was terrorism, but like, we didn't care? I mean who was talking about the '94 WTC bombing six months later? We were busy drinking Wild Cherry Pepsi.

I think it may have depended on your age and location.

The Oklahoma City bombing was the first time I heard the name Osama bin Laden and among the people I knew, Oklahoma City, the first WTC bombing and the Branch Davidians were all (correctly) seen as signs of the world becoming more dangerous again, post-Cold War.

There's a whole thread there, I'm sure, but I doubt its one for this forum. There was also the Gulf War.

There are several posters that I don't even necessarily disagree with most of the time but that nevertheless can suck any joy or interest out of a thread like nothing I can make analogy to on these forums and keep it grandma friendly.

I have had better success using the ignore function for people I just find unpleasant to read, rather than people I actually argue with.
