I wasn't trying to point fingers at you, I promise. I was just scratching my head over the large number of "make 5E play like this other edition" threads at the bottom of my screen a bit ago. It just seems like so much extra work, just to play something that is already playable as-written.

Except, of course, that most of the time it is not a zero sum thing. I think most people are like, "I like the fundamental mechanics/structures of 5E but would prefer if it did X and Y from 3E and Z from 2E, and ABC from some other non-D&D game altogether!" If they played some previous edition they'd like be like, "I want Q, R, and X from 5E in my 2E game" and someone else like you would say to them "Why not just play 5E then?"

Now, the people who keep struggling with doing this while not liking the work of doing it or are running for a group who doesn't actually want that is whole other thing.

I will now return to my regularly scheduled not commenting.

In other news, this seems like a really good presentation format for adventures on Discord. I'll be testing it out next week and maybe adding speaker's notes to each slide so I can know how the monsters convert for the few Firetop Mountain critters that aren't in the Shadowdark quickstart.

I think we agree probably way more than we dont, I find your posts generally correct, and insightful, and you are easily in the top 5 of my own stack rank of posters here.

I still dont like the conclusion, and I think we are in agreement on where its all going.
