There’s a difference between what the text actually says and what you want it to say. You can torture the definitions of words all you want and mangle syntax and grammar to the breaking point, but the text still doesn’t say what you desperately want it to say.

Also, an important corollary: Disagreeing isn't the same thing as misunderstanding.

Sometimes the trouble is the point itself, not the way I'm presenting it, and even if I'm making myself crystal clear there will be others who still disagree. I need to be okay with that, and move on.
