The "I Didn't Comment in Another Thread" Thread

I feel kind of conflicted about this. On one hand, yeah, it can be tantamount to threadcrapping, but on the other, sometimes the premise seems faulty from the get-go, and is that not worth saying? I don't know.
Largely it depends on the OP. If they are asking for opinions, then all is fair in love and war. If the OP wants a specific conversation, and the premise seems faulty, I do not try to correct them. Instead I ask clarifying questions and go from there. Eventually, I reach a point where the conversation is worth continuing on my part or not. Who is posting certainly matters too. A few folks I just avoid because I know our preferences do not align.

I mostly agree with what @payn said right above, but there's also an element of where the conversation is and is going by the time I have thoughts about it. Also, some premises are worth shooting down in flames, if one has the energy, and if I have the energy, I'll at least put up flak.

Usually I just point out the hyperbole in a meta-thread ("our fellow sufferers"? Like, is anyone suffering over game rules?), chuckle to myself while write something funny (how long have I been suffering alongside them? Seems like something I would have noticed), then drop it or change the subject (something something pineapple something).

Depends on how broadly you use "suffering". I've certainly had rules problems that after a while my reaction was "This again?!"

Yeah, that's all fair. I suspect my reaction would depend on how the matter was presented in the first post.

The first time, it’s fair game. The second time might be chalked up to misunderstanding. The tenth or fifteenth time? That’s just threadcrapping.

I'd say it depends on whether its directed at the same person or people all the time. There's no point in chasing someone around just to Tell Them They're Wrong repeatedly.
