True Story: When the university that I work for was going for accreditation (it was previously a polytech college), a group of professors went to some Eastern European country (I think it was Poland) and bought degrees from one of their universities. It was a huge scandal but by the time it was found out, the school already had enough legitimate degree holders for accreditation.
