I think by nature, many of us are problem solvers. Its part of a lot of aspects of not just nerd/geek culture, but RPGs, and D&D. I would imagine many of us do this in our 'day jobs' as well.

It is due to that, that it is frustrating to no end that people wont just state what the parameters are.

You're a lucky man if they actually state what the parameters are in your day job.

Indeed. In my job the parameters seem to be whatever other groups in my department don't feel like doing today, that is actually part of their job description. Or even explicitly the name of their group.
