Leaving aside the numerous jokes that can be made here, I'd start engaging with them from a point of respectful disagreement, hopefully opening a dialogue, since that's how you get people to let go of odious beliefs (i.e. what "winning" looks like, rather than having them harden their position due to feeling attacked).

Mama Snarf and my dad would have gotten on like gangbusters. I could (and did) build forts out of the empties that he had sitting around, waiting to be returned for the deposit.

Well there's the crux of it. Pineapple's great on pizza but not with cheese.

I recently went to an Indian restaurant that does an amazing Indian pizza, but I hadn't been in well over a decade (or two!). I was shocked to find they put cheese on it. I'd remember it not having cheese, before. I mean, paneer would've been fine, but mozzarella + spiced vegetables?
