Except that those of us who have had some egregiously bad DM's in the past read what people say about their games and how they run their games and see that these people are using exactly the same language as those egregiously bad DM's did. So, when people start spouting off about how the game should be played this way or that way, using virtually word for word the same language and arguments that I saw in some unbelievably bad games, then, yes, I'm going to probably be a lot less willing to just shrug it off.
Maybe if DM's were a lot more willing to listen to players instead of assuming every player is out to screw up their game, and far less DM's were advised that they are the "final word" and any player that challenges them should be chucked out the door, the hobby would be a lot more healthy.
