I am just honestly fascinated by this because I never heard of the division over black olives until the posts on this thread. I can definitely see how some people might not like them (they are salty, usually come in a can, and they are more processed than other olives). But I have been eating them since I was a kid and think they are great. It is the texture and the briney flavor.
And also this staple of holiday feasting:

It is not hatred. It isn't like an olive murdered my family pet when I was a small child, leading me to create a crime-fighting persona based on a small mammal in a quest for vengeance against evergreen drupes, or something.

I am going to be looking over my shoulder at the pizzeria from now on :)

It is merely that olives register to me as a negative esthetic experience, whereas for others, they register as a positive experience.

Your comprehension of that fact is not required. To first approximation, kindly acceptance of the fact is sufficient. Much as my kindly acceptance that others do like them is called for, whereas costumed vigilantism would be overkill.
I totally get this. There are foods I don't like. In all seriousness, I am just honestly surprised that black olives have the same strong negative reaction that pineapple on pizza does. I never encountered it before (know lots of people who don't like black olives, just didn't realize it was this controversial as a food). I've been googling it and it looks like this a pretty deep topic in some quarters lol

Can it really be Greek Salad without Black Olives?

Wow, I don't know what any of those refer to?

Well, without going too deep down the rabbit hole.

1. Refers to a homophobic rumor that was common in the '80s (an "urban legend") about the actor that says a lot about that particular time.

2. Refers to an urban legend that the dark and atmospheric song (In the Air Tonight) which was such a departure from his usual work that it was actually a confession to murder.

3. CJK5H. 'Nuff said.

Weird stuff.

With 3, I don't even know who the celebrity is, lol.
