And here all this time I thought negotiation meant arguing back and forth (at least three times but usually many more, like in a writers' room) over intractable differences of opinion and how words make people feel bad ("intractable" being the core element ("core" meaning unique to that thing)). I guess I should have looked it up in the dictionary but it wouldn't have mattered.
