I do often think about how between teeth that are prone to rot and don't last the lifetime of the unit and how solids and liquids have to enter the same hole as air, which means there is a chance of the latter blocking the former, is really poor design, along with a bunch of other stuff.

The device is being used beyond its projected usefulness, so failures are inevitable.

There's an old engineering joke about what kind of engineer designed the human body. Some say Mechanical because of the skeleton that's the base of the thing. Some say Electrical because the nervous system is what gives us consciousness. But most say Civil, because that's the only one who would put the waste disposal system so close to a recreational area.

Well, teeth don't rot that much if all you're eating is raw meat and fruit and tubers. It's the starchy starchy yum of potato chips and bread and the like what do our enamel in,sticking to it and providing a giant buffet to all those acid-producing bacteria. I'm sure evolution will figure that one out in a couple hundred thousand years though.

The solid/liquid/air-in-one-hole thing, though, it's had plenty of time to figure that one out but nope! As long as enough kids survive to have kids of their own before choking to death, evoution calls it good.

I suspect we'll edit our own genome to address it well before then unless we have a pre-tech fall.
