If only the beak was detachable. Or if the fries would come out then at least I'd have had a handy bludgeon.Yeah. At some point you switch from a stabbing to cutting the person in half and that sucker has definitely crossed the line.

Anyone who has been supporting stuff via Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Seed&Spark, or any number of other such sites for any length of time is well aware that delivery dates are aspirational, at best. I've been waiting for a comic from Nicolas Lloyd (aka Lindybeige) for I think 7 years now. Every now and then there's an update. I don't kick in funds that I can't afford to lose and generally don't raise a fuss about such things. If it's a couple of years late, I don't sweat it.I need a browser filter that just blocks any kickstarter complaint at this point. Yeap, its been around since '09 we all know how it works. Yeap, we know you'd prefer to have your product now, purchased in a brick and mortar location like you used to. Yeap, we know that stretch goals are not always great or lead to a great deal. Yeap, we know we know we know....
Problem is I think the internets would just vanish if I instituted such a thing.![]()
I miss the really old "threaded forums" in which you could have branching conversations that split off from the main chat. Things would wander all over the place and threads got very interesting.Regarding Kickstarter complaints, I have the same internal monolog as @payn but after a pause I am a bit more empathetic. There are always people who are new to a technology, process, or system, even if that technology, process, or system itself isn't new.
This is also an issue when discussing TTRPGs. If you've been enjoying a game for years, it gets tiresome to see the same arguments, complaints, and questions brought up again and again. But it is unfair to those who are new to the game and want to discuss is without having to spend a lot of time researching and reading years of old discussions.
I ran into this recently having gotten into Warhammer Fantasy RPG 4e late last year. I much prefer discussing the game on general forms like ENworld than on WFRP4e Reddits or warhammer-focused forums. Same with DCC and other sytems.
This is one of the few areas where I have to admit actually like Discord over traditional forums or, esp., Reddit. Most TTRPG publisher and fandom discords have a some form of newbie channel. Something about the more live conversational nature of Discord makes people more helpful and pleasant when you have newbie questions. Also, as Discord is more focused on live chat, there isn't the same expectation that you are going search and read through a ton of old threads before daring to ask a question. It makes discord frustrating because it is hard to follow conversations over time or find useful information that's been given and discussed in the past, but it is great to for popping in and getting quick answers and advice.
What makes you think we are "moving down a cultural dead end"?The idea that the cultural dead end we are moving down is good, actually, and nothing can be gained from look back, just isn't it.
The news? What makes you think we are "moving down a cultural dead end"?
