Correct."This person doesn't/didn't share my values" is not an instance of them having hurt/harmed/injured you.
Hey, if someone dummies up about their values, no harm. Start airing them publicly and, depending on what those values are, that can make life difficult for people for things they cannot change. And that's harm."This person doesn't/didn't share my values" is not an instance of them having hurt/harmed/injured you.
Sure, but "this person lent their considerable cachet and talent to support people doing direct harm to people and refusing to speak up or acknowledge it at all" is."This person doesn't/didn't share my values" is not an instance of them having hurt/harmed/injured you.
Well that's clearly not the case, since we've seen people posting that "I confronted someone about their associating with someone I disapprove of, and they said nothing" is an instance of moral failure.Hey, if someone dummies up about their values, no harm.
The idea that simply saying what you believe can make someone else's life (measurably) more difficult simply for you having said it is far, far more nuanced than you're presenting it as being. Largely because it relies on that individual having some sort of significant social pull, and even then it tends to be predicated on influencing third parties, omitting that said parties have their own agency and aren't simply puppets waiting to be told what to believe and how to act on it.Start airing them publicly and, depending on what those values are, that can make life difficult for people for things they cannot change.
Again, I think this is far too broad a declaration. And that's harm.
That depends on how you're defining "considerable," "cachet," "talent," "support," and "direct harm," where overly broad takes on any of those ends up (ironically enough) doing more harm than good.Sure, but "this person lent their considerable cachet and talent to support people doing direct harm to people and refusing to speak up or acknowledge it at all" is.
Depends on the scale. 1/300th, not so impressive. 1:1 and no one can park in the driveway anymore, much more so."I'm building a tank" sounds much more impressive than "I'm building a scale model"
