The Last Legion. Why am I just now hearing about this?

It's a pseudo-historical epic, which (from what I can tell) is examining the events during the Roman Empire that some say inspired the King Arthur myth.

(If that's an incorrect assessment, feel free to correct me.)

So, should I be worried about the fact that this thing flew so low under the radar that I'm only hearing about it a few days before release? That doesn't bode well, but I have to admit, I'm curious.

I saw posters up for the movie the other day (in the darkest rural regions of the Netherlands, curiously enough), and remembered having heard about the movie about six months ago or so.

I started reading the book last year, and I thought the writing was terrible, very stilted. Either the author couldn't write, or the translation from the original Italian was very bad. I put it down after about a hundred pages, and never picked it back up again.

Having said that, the story seemed entertaining enough, if not very plausible. I'll definitely be watching the movie.

Never mind this movie! I just noticed that they're making a movie of The Dark Is Rising! How come I didn't know about it?!

Ian McShane as Merriman, though ... I dunno.

I fully expect them to tank that franchise before it ever takes off. If they'd take it seriously, perhaps they could have a mini-Potter franchise, but from what I've seen so far it looks like a cheesy one-off for a quick buck.

I've been seeing previews and such for it for a while now...I'm just not impressed.

I think I'm just getting tired of everyone wanting to do their own Arthur movie and making it 'realistic'.

Nothing I saw in the trailer suggested they were trying to be 'realistic'.

Just as long as it's not boring like that Clive Owen dog was.

I felt the same way about Rush Hour 3. I heard it was being made, then saw an ad last week that says "Opening Friday." Maybe I'm not watching the right television stations.
