My whole entry into D&D back in the early 80's was primarily inspired by my love of mythology, so this book was always my favorite. I remember having debates in high school about how some listing, or even some minor detail inside a listing, should have been done in our vast scholarly opinions. LOL.

(I miss my high school years when I knew everything with such certainty)

Now I want to get my copy out and flip through it when I get home.

Yes! Add the MMII and some assorted modules to the mix, and that describes my collection, too. A collection that I am now so glad I did not get rid of during my "dry" spell between 1E and 5E.

As for Deities & Demigods, I gots me the version with the page 4 special thanks to Chaosium Inc, even though the Cthulhu and Melnibonean sections were already removed.

Thanks for sharing Mr. Ward. That book and it's cover really floored me when it came out and I immediately shelved my copy of G,DG & H.

I sold my original 1st print D&DG and G,DG, & H after a layoff about 15 years ago. Those hurt, and doubtful I will ever replace at collectors prices of today.

That said, I've really enjoyed Of Gods & Monsters for C&C * and it doesn't hurt as much as it used to

I still have my 1st Edition which I bought off the shelf in about 1981, and it was the Newhonian and Melnibonean mythos' which turned me on to those authors earlier than I possiby would normally have been (pre-teen)

I always wondered why some of me freinds editions didn't have Cthulu and Melnibone! I learnt something!

Thanks for the history behind this wonderful book. I spent a lot of time paging through the MM and this book. Much more so than any other D&D products combined! I am still using it for inspiration today.

So do I -- both eBay auctions that claimed to be first printings but were not.

I gave up my quest for an eBay Cthulhu Mythos after the second one.

Great book, introduced me to many cultures and myths I was not aware of. Young Olgar also found the Finnish goddesses particularly comely.
