The Mandalorian & Grogu Trailer

At least amongst the younger generations, I don't think "Star Wars" carries much more clout than "Grogu". Its just stuff old people like, like Elvis.

You may be right. My idea of "younger generations" is people in the late teens - early 20s, who had the chance to see the sequel trilogy in theaters. I don't really know how kids in high school or younger connect with SW.

A lot of the teens who could have seen the sequel trilogy - didn’t. As for pre-teens, the original movie is slow and dull (but the Lego version is okay).

Emphasis on this looking like the "AI mill" end of the AI trailer genre, where it's just a series of "look we have these characters" shots. It doesn't seem to reveal nearly as much plot and world-building as something like:

This would be a greater deviation from Star Wars than the Sequel Trilogy.

However, as long as they made it as a non-connected to Canon, total parody of it...A movie like this would ROCK!!!

Hard.

I think it would l have a hard R-rating though (something no Star Wars film has ever had to my knowledge).

Of course, I'm somone who loved Battle Beyond the Stars and Star Crash...so my taste in the matter may not be the best to represent popular sentiments on the matter.

That said...loved the Line...Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn't need the Force, the Force needs him.

Don’t know if I’ll watch it, though. Season 3 was pretty dumb.
Yeah, that's the problem for me, too. I really enjoyed Mandalorian season 1 and 2 (there were still some weaker episodes, but overall, it was my favourite Star Wars thing outside the original trilogy). But both the parts inserted into the Boba Fett series and season 3 left me with the impression that maybe I should just stop watching Star Wars.
That being said, I think the trailer is ok. Doesn't really tell a lot, but I don't mind that too much.

Many CGI artists died to bring us this movie.

For folks who are fully on board with the Mandalorian, I'm sure this will be great, but the trailer gives me a vibe of being pretty incomprehensible unless you've seen the whole show, plus the terrible Boba Fett series.

I had thought Disney had realized that giving audiences homework was a huge mistake with the MCU, but maybe that message hasn't reached the Star Wars team yet.

I am fully on board (but not uncritically) with the Mandalorian, and I do think this will be great. However, I can see your point. Disney needs to learn to make stuff that can stand on its own better.

That said, let's dig in.

It looks like there are some real deep cuts in this film.

Firstly, "live action" Zeb is in this. Nice.

Secondly, there are quite a few aliens, including a gladiator hutt! I'm seeing speculation online that one of the hutts, possibly the gladiator, is "Stinky" (Jabba's son, who was rescued as an infant by Ahsoka and Anakin during the Clone Wars animated movie).

Thirdly, there's a Mantellian Savrip, first introduced in the OG Star Wars as a holographic dejarik piece.

Fourthly, that guy with the wide-brimmed helmet is Embo, an alien bounty hunter from the Clone Wars cartoon. (He fought alongside Anakin and Obi-Wan protecting Felucian farmers against Hondo's gang in an episode that was a direct nod to the Seven Samurai.)

Lastly, that alien who shuts up shop when Mando asks about a hutt is played by none other than Martin Scorsese!
