It definitely seems like Filoni believes the primary audience for Star Wars stuff is the people who watch the animated stuff. Which, to be fair, is probably their most devoted audience. I'm just not sure how large it is compared to the "just go to the movies" folks.

I dunno, this looks like some pulpy action fun. Sure, it's no Andor ... but literally nothing else in Star Wars canon is Andor. And not everything has to be. TBH, the Mandalorian series stumbled when it tried to be Andor.

That said, it is a pretty generic trailer. Not really sure, aside from the higher budget, why this can't be simply the next couple episodes of the Mandalorian, and why it's worth trekking out to theatres.

I have no idea how large the audience is. I really don't watch Disney Star Wars. It's not really my type of thing.

My spouse watches all of it. They are on yet another viewing (meaning, they have watched it before and before that as well...etc.) of Andor, and they watch the other Disney shows except for the Animated ones. They don't really watch the Cartoons (I'm actually probably more likely to do that than they are, but as I said, I'm not really into Disney Star Wars though I used to really like Star Wars in it's older format/style).

I mean, is that really that surprising? Filoni made his name with the animated Star Wars cartoons. That's his bread and butter. Now he's shifting to live action with mixed results ... but it makes sense, as the kids who grew up watching the Clone Wars cartoon are now late teens / young adults. They want to see their beloved cartoon characters in live action with more adult themes.

I want to say yes, but I'm not 100% sure. Maybe they just didn't show any of those bits in the trailer.

Oh, I see the logic of it. The question is whether the movie-only people will turn out.

But if he consistently only gets cartoon audience numbers, Filoni will be getting asked some tough questions by Disney.

I liked that second trailer better than the first one. Though most references are lost on me, it looked like it could be entertaining anyway. Not sure if I have enough motivation to see it at the cinema - 4k Blu-ray (or streaming if they don't put out one) seem more likely.

Entirely depends on the alien in question. Plenty that have always spoken English Galactic Basic. Big purple guy in this film/trailer is from Star Wars Rebels and speaks Galactic Basic fluently. Gungans all do too. Yoda, of course. Duros (or at least the ones running the Trade Federation) also. Maul, a Zabrak, in the instances he gets to actually speak. Ostensibly. Huttese is the most common language we see translated to subtitles (Jabba the Hutt obviously, but also pretty much everyone working for him). Meanwhile, we get zero translations for Binary (R2 units) and Shyriiwook (Wookies), ever.

E: We also obviously don't get subtitles for Ewokese, either.

Any box office predictions? I think the ceilings 750 million floors 200-300 million.
