You can interpret death and violence as the dark side, but I am gonna disagree. Those are part of nature. The dark side isn’t.
Yes, it is!

The Force is a product of nature (an energy field generated by Midiclorians). The Dark Side is simply one way of tapping into that energy field (using negative emotions like fear, anger, and aggression - all of which are perfectly natural - and in some cases very useful - emotions).

This guy on Reddit gets it:

The Force is the Force. Good and evil only exist in people. However, people personify the Force and imbue it with their own personalities.

You can apply white light to a prism to see a multiplicity color, but no one color by itself is white light. The Bendu follow the white light. It is not a middle path but the complete path. Jedi and Sith fail to comprehend this understanding. They attribute their conflict to something inherent in the Force when in reality it is something inherent in themselves.
The Force just is the Force; a singular energy field created by midiclorians present in all life forms. A person with a high enough midiclorian count can access and manipulate this energy field. You can access it through peaceful contemplation (the light side method) or through anger, fear and aggression (the dark side method).

The latter method of manipulating the Force is easier, quicker and more seductive but ultimately also corrupting in nature (likely due to the intense nature of the method). The former method is much harder to master, but not corrupting in nature, and can ultimately lead to a one-ness with the Force.

Fear, anger and aggression are natural emotions possessed by living creatures, and the Force (as a by product of living creatures) is no different.

So when it says you must follow the Jedi Code in order to become a Jedi Master (or be appointed one by the Jedi Council), that's just something to be ignored?

Righteo then.
Sure. Of course as Max pointed out she does follow the code, she just isn’t part of the order any more. But either way, if you want the title you have to go through the proper channels, or be Luke. If you want the game mechanics, you just need to have a background and skill set and knowledge base that makes sense for the benefits of the PrC. 🤷‍♂️

The Code requires obeying and following the Jedi Council, and not (for example) seeing vengeance:

Vader: Anakin Skywalker was weak. I destroyed him.
Ashoka: Then I will avenge him!
Vader: Revenge is not the Jedi way.
Ashoka: I am no Jedi.

She clearly does not follow the Jedi Code! She's a light-sider, but she's not a Jedi, and does not adhere to the Jedi Code.

No, I'm not distinguishing between the 'game mechanics' and the actual in universe reality of actually being a Jedi Master.

Ashoka could never be a Jedi Master, as she abandoned the Jedi Code and left the Order while still a Padawan (although offered Knighthood). If you asked her if she was a Jedi Master, she would say no.

Luke could become a Jedi Master as he followed the Jedi Code (right up until Ben Solo betrayed him and he abandoned it).

To be a Jedi Master, you need to be a Jedi Master. The Prestige class is not a mere extension of the Jedi class (which you can take without being a member of the Jedi tradition); it's a completely separate class that represents the skills particular to Jedi Masters, which Ashoka Tano was not.

Short episode this week (31 minutes).

Well gonna be impossible not to mark out for this episode.

Callbacks to a previous episode in the season and 2 episodes in season one that were "filler".

I'll leave it there for a few hours so others can watch without stumbling on spoilers.

This is the way though.

Thanks. Much appreciated. The episodes debut too late on a Friday night for me to be able to watch them with my girls, so I always have to wait till Saturday.

Yeah goes up at 9pm, 8pm one week. Star Trek TNG finished at 20:56 or so watched the Lego Holiday Special trailer and Mando was up after that.
