It was the movie LOTR that made Gimli comedy relief and Legolas a Superhero.

In the book, Gimli and Legolas are equally heroic. And possibly, Gimli outshines Legolas in the book.

Conversely, somebody gave the dwarves in 3.5 a little TOO much lovin'. (Friggin' Weeble-Wobbles...) :)
It's that darn political correctness. They fear accidentally giving them the shaft and
invoking D.W.A.R.F. (Dwarfhood Watch And Rightdoing Federation).

Yeah, but if I remember coreectly, Gimli gets the first really cool fight scene in Moria!!

Standing on his cousin's tomb, axe in each hand, calling out "Let them come! There is one dwarf yet in Moria who still draws breath!"

In MMORPGs, the "pretty" races (usually humans and elves) always have the most players. It happened in Everquest, it happened in Dark Age of Camelot, it happened in World of Warcraft, etc.

Thats why in the WOW expansion, the horde is getting a "pretty" Race, the blood elves. I hope the allence(sp) get an ugly race.

Yes, and considering that most of the immature players pick night elves as their race, it worries me that my orc shaman is going to have to start dealing with a lot more jerks when Blood Elves are added to the Horde. :(

He's the actor who portrayed the dwarf in Narnia and also played all the Oompa-Loompas in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. :)
And he was also Mr. Sin, AKA the Peking Homonculus, in the Doctor Who episode "Talons of Weng-Chiang."

I find that so strange. If table RPGs are any indication players always want to the play weird and evil races, "Human phhhftt! I want to be a CE half elf/half dragon/half fiend/half drow assassin/psion/blackguard."

Nope. He was the Oompa-Loompas, but he didn't play Ginarrbrick the dwarf. That was Kiran Shah, who was also a Hobbit size double in the LotR movies. They do look a bit alike though, and I originally made the same mistake.
