Congrats, Crothian, this is working VERY well.

Huge numbers of good reviews are flowing in to the site now!

Well, we have to wait and see. I expected a good number of En Worlders would be interested in this. However, it is the long term that we need to work. So, in a month...three months....we will see how many people still want to do this. Writing one review is easy, writing ten, fifty, two hundred...that's hard. I'm very pleased though at the speed and dedication some of the people have been able to do this. I'm catiously optomistic.

I've definitely noticed an increase in reviews. But you're right, Crothian, the real test comes with time.

The increase is easy to notice. This past week 14 reviews came as a direct result of this project. It's also good since general fan review numbers for EN World are way down this year as well.

Which is likely just due to the overall decrease in interest in D20 System and D&D products. I suspect an honest poll would reveal a drastic decrease in the number of active players and consumers of new product.

Well, I'd combine that with the Review site still being under construction and just hasn't been as easy to use for publishers, reviewers, and readers since that part of the site collapsed with the server upgrade.

Now if only people stood up and took notice of it. That book gets shrugged off so often because it isn't flexible enough.

Are you kidding??? I LOVED this book and have used it for 2 different campaigns. There is not that much tweaking necessary, and most of it can be done on the fly if the situation requires it.

Hard to please everyone I guess. I like more fluff than crunch myself. I don't need anymore prestige classes (unless specific to a region, and absolutely necessary), feats are OK, but setting flavor.... that's what I want. Oh and good NPC blocks, bookmarks, uniquely cool templated monsters, and some "region" specific stuff, like moderately statted inns and taverns for cities, whole streets statted for cool sections of town, etc.

Oh, did I mention it wasn't free? They were selling it for $2 a copy. So each of those review copies that wasn't reviewed was taking $1 of the money they spent on it away from them, and $1 of the profit they would have earned from it.

Who were these people again? I wouldn't mind a list of them myself.

note to reviewers: If you have limit of how big of files you can take, please mention that. Some of the PDFs can get big so a 5 meg e-mail limit will make a difference. Also, if you want to do non d20 reviews, I have a few options. So far no one has expressed interest in them, so I'm looking for people to review them.

Okay, I wrote and posted my second review: Fear Effects.

All in all, I think I am okay for two reviews per month, and won't tire of it if I can choose which products to review (since I see an obvious advantage there ;) ).

Use your best judgement here. At times people do start threads about a review they have written. But most of the time people don't. I'd love to have a review forum to discuss revewing in general and reviews in particular. Right now though unless there is really something about the review that you want other people opnions on don't start a thread on it.
I'd like to have a reviews forum too.

Once I've cleared my backlog of existing stuff to review I'll email you. Aim to review one print and one pdf per month from August onwards.
