WEll, hopefully something can be done. The review side has been dead most of this year and needed an influx of reviews to get back to were it was. We are just seeing problems that were there but because of the lack of reviews was not as noticible. Personally, I like that we are finally getting reviews from awider variety of people. This has opened the door to a lot of people who have been thinking about doing reviews and just needed a little push.

As mentioned, I think it's good too. I just worry about the utility. The PDF's are smaller and usually easier to review and can quickly be posted knocking out a review of a product that's four to eight times the size of the PDF. I'm not saying that's always the case, as HARP and the Monster Builder are good examples of PDF's that are larger, but without any weight to the length of time the reviews stay on the front page, I'm a little leery of putting anymore big products on the front page without any way to navigate the system easily.

I can't speak for others, but my preview reviews of Northern Crown books are pretty much buried, as are Ennies nominated Dawning Star and Dark Legacies Player's Guide. When the tools turn back on themselves... they cease being useful or as useful as they could be. Now if En World is going to focus on the PDF medium only, not a problem but in the meanwhile...

That's too bad. I'd be more than happy to review if you send me a copy. (not that it's going to do any good at this stage of the game...)

I'm gonna see if I can do a HARP review next. Sure, Crothian. Give me an easy one, why don't ya! ;)

Seriously, HARP is easy. There is a lot of material to comment on and write about. You want hard? Try writing a 1000 words review on a 4 page PDF that has art, tables, and the ogl!!

No can-do. It was a limited print run of 100 copies.

That's easy for you to say. I'm at 3.5 pages and I've just now made it the spells and magic chapter!

Well, one thing I'm really encouraging people to do is write longer reviews so this works perfectly with that. I, too, need to write longer reviewers and sometimes It's hard to find the words to say about some of the books.

What would be a good length for a review. I was a little concenred that my first review may have been too long and detailed. Or is that just me being over critical :uhoh:

Impossible to really say. Length of review depends on the book being reviewed, and the deatil the reviewer goes into it. I've had some 3500 word reviews that I felt were a little short and there were some 1000 word ones that I really padded. Just make sure it is at least 500 words and in most cases a few hundred more. Each reviewer has his own style and length of review comes from that.

What's a reasonable length for a short pdf review? I had a hard enough time stretching out a lab report let alone some 4 page pdf (including the OGL).
