Spoilers The Pitt Season 2 Discussion

Well for very good reason. She is now a liability to the patients, to the hospital, and even to herself. Imagine if she has an episode and kills a patient, that is something you might never be able to let go of.

And frankly I think in her heart that's what Baran wanted, its why she showed the record to Robby. She knew at her core that she needed someone to check her, it was something she couldnt' do herself, but she needed someone that she respected to tell her "no, you can't do this, its not ok".

With Robby I don't think it’s mysogeny per se...but he does have his favorites. He highly respects Mel for example, has a pretty strong mentoring relationship with Javardi. McKay he has a decent relationship but it’s a bit more distance. Mohan and he have had trouble connecting, and he definately took it out on her too harshly this season.
That’s not at all my takeaway from that interaction. I think she confided in him and reaching out for help. She had a plan for patient safety, but he wasn’t going to hear any of it. He has a bit of a pattern for attacking people for having the same failings he has.

She did have a plan, one that he immediately found the flaw in. Now do I think Robby handled it the best?....absolutely not, he is no saint (which is part of why I love this show, everyone has their flaws and their demons).

But if we think about it from Robbie's perspective....ignore all the suicidal thoughts stuff for a moment. You are literally about to leave on a sabbaticla, and you have entrusted your entire department to this doctor. And then at the end of an absolutely terrible draining shift, she comes to you telling you that she might not be fully fit to treat patients (right as your about to walk out the door!!!). And so now you have that knowledge...and the guilt that comes with it. That's a lot to put on anyone, let alone someone with the mental issues Robbie has. In that context, his "blowup" was relatively mild.

Robbie has his definite faults, especially this season. But I absolutely do not fault his reaction to Dr. Al-Hashimi. She is a serious risk. And as pointed out, her mitigation plan had an obvious flaw. I think her reaction at the end was her admitting to herself that he was right.

Again, this is just one piece of a pattern about how Robby handles any incidents with women doctors on his staff. Does it possibly stem from the final revelation -
that he was abandoned as a child?

It’s not like the Pitt to leave a stone like that unturned so I hope they address it in the next season.

I think this is too much of a read in. Keep in mind, the majority of the core learning doctor pool are women right now (aka not attendings, the doctors Robby is in charge of). That means the majority of Robbie's interactions period are with female doctors.

If we look at how he handled his male staff....like Langdon. Busted him for drugs, threw him out of the hospital...and then busted his chops the second he came back. Literally said "I don't know if I want you working at my hospital".

Or heck, how about the two male paramedics who screwed up the EKG on that woman? Did "good old boy" Robbie give them a pass?... Nope he chewed them out publically.

Robby isn't a dick to women....Robby is just sometimes a dick:)

And you gotta remember this is just a single shift, we don't know what has happened "off screen" between the first season's day and july 4th or what will have happened between july 4th and November.

Wouldn't be the first time something has been left on the floor.

I don’t think that’s reading too much. Not reporting a teenager because you’re worried about his future despite his written threats towards girls in his class is certainly a CHOICE. Calling out Mohan for a panic attack when he himself had one on the job is another clear indicator. It’s a definite pattern in my eyes.

Sure...but you are making the leap that they are choices "against women". I don't see that.

Mohan's panic attack, honestly replace any of the doctors with Mohan and I think you get a blow up from Robbie. It wasn't because Mohan was a woman.

On the teenager....that was a very tough situation for anyone. A very tough call, and the show did a great job of going back and forth on the consequences. Frankly I thought that was very positive because right now media always skews to teh "report report report"...but it fails to recognize that you are basically going to ruin a person's life if you do that, so you need to be DAMN SURE you have got it right.

Robby and McKay portrayed two sides of that very tough argument. And if that was combined with a lot of other behavior from Robbie I could see your point...but I'm not seeing it. Robbie hates incompetency not women, and he is more than happy to chew into anyone (male or female) if they aren't getting the job done in his eyes.

For every less-than-stellar relation he has with a female co-worker, you can point to one where he has a good one. And he can be just as hard on males as well. He’s been a real jerk some times, but I don’t really think it’s down to misogyny.
