Ahhh, ye olde “Don’t worry, I have a photographic memory” trope to completely mitigate a problem.

I was a bit disappointed by this episode. They created a problem to build drama, but immediately undercut much of the problem in a way that didn’t feel organic, which has been a strength of the show so far.

well it was more of chekhov's gun getting fired, joy mentioned a few episodes back that she has a photographic memory.

I get it, it still feels like a cop-out to me. What elevates The Pitt for me is the intensity and the feeling of realism, and I felt that undermined it.
I think they still did PLENTY to show how the loss of technology is reeking havoc with teh hospital....and we have just gotten started, I don't think this is a problem that is going away anytime soon.

They used it as a moment to let Joy shine. But they coudl have just as easily had Whitaker's photo been fine and then they just transcribe it that way....same process but less character moment.

I guess that’s the other part - Whitaker was fast on feet last episode, and then they just kind make him a goof again. As you mention, it’s a chaotic enough situation; it just felt tropey and unnecessary to me.
