The price of streaming vs out right owning

Man that sounds nice. I wish I liked watching football, hockey is so insanely stupid in the US to be able to follow a single team all year with their broadcast rights in the US being spread out so much.
NFL is getting worse. MNF is on ESPN, TNF is on Amazon, Peacock (note not NBC) is getting playoff exclusives...

We dumped our Sunday Ticket subscription because of this, and decided screw it, if it’s on regular TV we’ll watch, and if it’s not, it’s not. Absolutely not going to buy all these different services just to catch a full season.

The only thing I really care about is Redzone. 7 hours of commercial free football every Sunday!

When I bought my laptop a couple years ago I bought the Windows last edition (maybe 2020/2021) instead of joining Microsoft360 for a monthly rate. I do not need all the bloat and mostly just Word and Excel.

Now I just need to figure out why Apple charges the PayPal account $1 each month.

We’re pretty lean with our subs and move around a lot. So we’ve currently got Netflix only to finish off a Korean drama or two and then will move in about a month to Prime (ugh, Amazon) + CityTV in order to watch Poker Face season 2, and then ditch those and move to Apple for a month to watch Murderbot. Back to Disney Plus when Only Murders gets a new season. That sort of thing, so we tend to keep it to about $10-20 a month. Probably more in the winter since we’ll be watching more stuff.

In our house, we have subscriptions to YouTube TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu with ads, Paramount+ (Essential Plan), and Peacock.
I contribute to YouTube TV and Netflix and pay Amazon Prime (have discount). Hulu comes free with the phone plans of two house members. Paramount+ Essential is free from Walmart membership (paid by a another house member), and someone else is paying for Peacock (for access to WWE special events and had a discount).

Despite, the subscriptions, I prefer owning physical media for movies. Why? I always have access to a movie I own if I were to drop a subscription service or it is not available for free on a commercial free platform to which I or someone else in the house is subscribed (avoiding ads is nice).

Out of curiosity, lots of people keep saying Walmart... I'm not super familiar with American stores, but isn't that a supermarket? Do they make TV shows also? What do you subscribe to?

Walmart is the largest retailer in the U.S. They sell food, clothes, electronics, auto supplies, office supplies, books, games, gardening equipment, and more. In my area, they also do auto repair and have a pharmacy (I am not sure if these are universal)

Lets see. All prices in euros
Netflix - 12.99
Disney+ -8.99 ( annual plan is 89.99 so i use that one)
Max - 9.99 ( but i use yearly plan for 99.99)
YT premium - 14.60
Spotify premium - 10.99
Croatian national television -11 (this is odd one, it's called subscription, but it's kind of mandatory and PIA to cancel, but on the other hand, they have free online platform so i can watch most of stuff that's on national television, including sports, also domestic movies and tv shows).
Voyo - 53,91 (annual) - this is platform from RTL television, but i pay it so i can watch regional MMA promotion FNC events.

Now, all those are premium/family packages, so my parents are on my Netflix and Max, Spotify is for up to 6 accounts ( me, wife, brother, sister in law). Only D+ is standard, and i have it mostly cause of cartoons for kids.

When we lived in Germany, we also had Prime, but since there is no Prime shipping in Croatia, no point in having Prime any more ( Prime video was just nice bonus and it had some nice shows )
