The Rogue and Cleric don't get along

I have noticed a RP problem that often pops up in many campaigns -- the rogue and cleric have ethical conflicts. The LG, NG or CG cleric clashes with the rogue. Some rogues may be CG which tends to minimize the conflict, but when the rogue is N on the good to evil axis problems frequently arise. Given that these are arguably the two most essential characters, this seems a pervasive problem.

How have other good clerics and neutral rogues managed to "agree to disagree," and avoid a state of constant bickering?

If the Cleric is a follower of Mask, Olidammara or Eloele? No problem.

If the Rogue is unusually pious, and considers himself the Involuntary Tithe Collector for God? No problem.

If the Cleric shuts his dang pie-hole and sticks to Leading By Example, rather than preaching? No problem.

If the Rogue stops acting like a schmuck, making fun of the cleric, seducing bar-totty left right and centre, showing off and stealing holy relics? No problem.
