The Stuff of Dreams (Orsal Judging)

ooc: Devlin initiative = 10
Devlin attack = 18
Does this count as a surprise round and would Devlin get sneak attack bonus to his attack? Here's his damage in either case. Hand crossbow = 3, sneak attack damage (if allowed) = 4

At the first sign of trouble, Devlin pulls the trigger, sending the tiny bolt into Wilbur's body. Following up quickly, the rogue stands and begins to move around the table towards Wilbur.

OoC: It's not a surprise round, as Wilbur knew that you had it drawn and decided to act first.

"You rat!", shrieked Wilbur, "You shot me!"

OoC: Wilbur will take his best shot. IC is down. I could just roll a dice, but in the interest of fairness, I'll wait until it's back up. If that takes more than a day or so, I'll resolve this some other way. We are experiencing technical difficulties...please stay tuned for the conclusion of the most excitement the Tower Inn common room has seen since that merchant's wife had too much to drink that one night and...

"Dammit! Enialis grab him before someone gets hurt." , Ryland says throwing himself at Wilbur, trying to subdue him. "Someone get officer Vagan of the watch. This man is a murder suspect", he shouts trying to establish that they are the good guys here.

OOC: initiative (1d20=19) , Will roll grapple attempt. things are finishing sooner than I thought. I should be able to post regularly.grapple attempt (1d20-4=11) . Grappling isn't Ryland's strong suit, but he doesn't want to get lynched for murder. :D

Wilbur fired his crossbow ineffectively into the wall beside Devlin. At once, Enialis and Salix were on him, trying to wrestle him to the ground. Salix arrived a split second before Enialis and latched on to the man, who begain struggling with him.[sblock=Crunch: ]Initiative order:
Ryland 19
Enialis 18
Devlin 10
Wilbur 9
Wilbur has the sense (amazingly!) to not use his hand crossbow as an improvised melee weapon, so no AoO on Ryland at the start of the grapple attemt. Ryland's melee touch attach to start the grapple succeeds, so we now move to opposed grapple checks. Ryland needs to beat a 17. Roll that, and then I'll resolve what happens in the rest of round 2 (Enialis's grapple attempt, Devlin's actions, etc.)[/sblock]

Ryland jumps into the fray, hoping to hold the little punk until the big horseman can hammer him.

OOC:
It doesn't look good :\

opposed grapple check #1 (1d20-4=1)

Even with a crossbow bolt in him, Wilbur easily pushed the little gnome away. Enialis, however, was a different matter. Wilbur swung the little hand crossbow wildly as if to ward him off, and for his troubles was fortunate in that he didn't destroy the little weapon. Enialis, on the other hand, seemed to have learned something from his little tete-a-tete with the baker a few days earlier, and managed to sieze the hapless thug's arm. Perhaps Wilbur's rough-and-tumble life up to this point served him well, as he stood and twisted and nearly wrenched free of the larger man's grasp. But Enialis kept his grip, and soon the smaller man's arm was twisted behind his back, still clutching his crossbow.[sblock=Crunch: ]For some reason, Enialis draws AoOs like honey draws flies. Wilbur's use of the crossbow as an improvised weapon failed miserably. Enialis's melee touch attack succeeded, as did his grapple check (a natural 20, which didn't beat Wilbur's excellent roll by much). Wilbur is now grappled by Enialis, and not by Ryland. I believe it's Devlin's turn.[/sblock]

El Jefe I appreciate you role playing me but I think I am going to permanantly withdraw myself from the game. As of the last month I really haven't been in much of a role playing or message board mood. Any further actions I would take would most likely just be going through the motions. Which I really don't want to do to the game. Ecspecially when input from me would hold up the game. Right now is really not the best time for me to be trying to continue in any games. However. If you wish to keep Enialis in the game then by all means do so.

If you'd like a story element to explain Enialis' decision to leave (if that's what you decide to do) then a possible explanation could be that Enialis' father has finally passed (he has been in declining health since I started the character) and that Enialis must leave to be his sister's guardian. Whatever you may choose to do with the character I leave to you.

I really enjoyed the game. But now is just not the best time for me to do this.

Thanks for the notification. I enjoyed having you in the game, and wish you the best of luck in the future. As for Enialis, we'll have him make a graceful exit stage right after this encounter.

Devlin steps up to Wilbur, grabs the protruding crossbow bolt, and twists it. "Dumb move, Wilbur, now you pay." He half turns so the other patrons can hear him clearly, "Mr. Wilbur, you are under arrest for suspicion of murder. Come quietly, or we will be forced to bind you." Devlin then steps back and draws his rapier, motioning for Enialis to start "escorting" Wilbur out of the common room.

ooc: I have no idea what kind of rolls to make for these actions, my brain has already begun the weekend. :)

Wilbur continued to struggle as Devlin reached for him, proving quite a handful for Enialis, despite the difference in size.[sblock=OoC: ]Since Wilbur is still struggling, let's start with a melee touch attack to grab the crossbow bolt.[/sblock]
