The Stuff of Dreams (Orsal Judging)

[sblock=El Jefe: ]Devlin smiles to himself at his apparently improving skills. Once inside he looks around for something to help shed some light on the interior. When the place is illuminated he begins to search any and all records he can find for any mention of Jobe, Brigit, Flodal, Wilbur, or Kamdar.

[sblock=Ryland: ]Brigit hung her head. "I haven't lived a good life", she confessed, "I've been bad, worse than you could know." She began to pace nervously. "You know something about Jobe Brimbor? We...we used to be partners, of a sort. How do you know about him?"OoC: Brigit is very good. Ryland can just barely detect the way she's very subtly changed the subject of the conversation. For all he can tell, she may be truthful about what she's talking about.[/sblock]

"He was the one with the crossbow. Seemed real interested in this orb, ornament, whatever you want to call it. I'm not worried about him, he seemed like the kind of guy who needed a bodyguard. The point is... people are willing to kill for this thing. Brimbor seemed very eager to part with a lot of money for it. What is it? Who else is lurking out there who's looking for it?", the gnome continues pressing her for info on the orb.
OOC: continue to sense motive (although it probably won't help). Might be a little spotty next few days. Crisis popped up at work.

It wasn't hard for Devlin to find a lamp and the means to light it. With the aid of its light, he spend hours pouring over Archer's files. It was astounding! The man had dirt on just about everyone in the city. However, there was no mention of a Jobe Brimbor, Brigit Oshally, or Wilbur. There was some information about a Kamdar, but it didn't take long for Devlin to realize that the one in Archer's files must not be the same one Jobe had mentioned when under a spell.[/sblock]

Its a large building with a lot of windows. But that's not important.

At talk of Brimbor and the orb, Brigit drew a sharp breath. "Oh, that", she twittered nervously. "It's a black globe, with carvings all over it, about this big." She indicated with her hands an object a little larger than a grapefruit but not quite as large as a melon. "How much did Jobe offer to pay for it?"

Ryland believed that he was finally starting to pry some truth out of the lass. Clearly he was on to something here.

Coming up empty at the office, Devlin decides to head back to the Tower Inn to await his associates.
Night had definitely fallen when Devlin pulled the door shut behind him and descended to the stairs below. The warm afternoon had cooled a bit, but the humidity of the recent rains lingered in the air.

The stroll to the Tower Inn was short and uneventful, save for a wagon that had passed uncomfortably close just as Devlin was about to round a corner. At first, he thought this meant something, but then realized it was just due to a clumsy driver, who'd had a bit too much ale before taking the reins.

Devlin entered the Tower Inn, and was greeted warmly by the innkeeper. The dashing rogue's senses, however, tingled with alarm. He glance over the common room, to find the young man in the corner staring angrily at him. There was no mistaking it. Instead of casting about the room for someone to bully, the strange little man had, for some reason, decided to make Devlin the object of his vitriol. Yet, he said nothing, did nothing, in fact, hardly twitched. "Mr. Personality" just sat, staring at the newcomer, ready for whatever opportunity might arise to pound him into a pulp.

If he'd been just a couple of years younger and an inch or two shorter, the scene would have been quite comical. Devlin knew that he'd better be on his guard, yet somehow he knew that this threat was more bark than bite, no matter how serious the baby-faced man thought he was.[/sblock][sblock=OoC, for all: ]At this point, Xaov hasn't been on for almost two weeks, so I'm considering Enialis to be an NPC until such time as Xaov returns to play him. I know that Salix is off busy fighting fires or something, and that he will get back as soon as he can (although it might not be until sometime next week). Dungannon, feel free to do with Devlin as you wish, just understand that actions that require interaction with other party members might take some time to resolve.[/sblock]

[sblock=El Jefe: ]Devlin casually makes his way to the bar, smiling at the little man and tossing him a wave. Once at the bar he orders a mug of ale and looks around as if expecting company.[/sblock]

Devlin wasn't quite sure, but perhaps one of the veins in the man's neck seemed to swell a bit when he waved.

The odd little man continued to stare angrily at Devlin, but stayed rooted to his seat.[/sblock]

[sblock=El Jefe: ]Devlin stares at the little man back, then looks around the rest of the room again.

ooc: Devlin looks for any sort of substance that might resemble the wyvern poison found on the dagger.[/sblock]
