The ten geekiest hobbies

If, in the minds of the general public, sports are supposedly high up on the "cool" scale, where do fantasy sports fall?

I can spend hours pondering things like, "Should I drop Nazr Mohammed and pick up Kelvin Cato?" "How high should I draft a closer this year?" or "I need to trade Marvin Harrison because I've got too players with a bye in week 6."

It doesn't get much geekier than that.

In my real life job (I'm a journalist), I once interviewed a man with an income in the low six figures whose entire finished basement had been converted into shelves for endless Tupperware tubs of plastic army men from all over the world.

Everyone's got something they're into, and it always seems weird to someone else.

Well said, Mr. Dustyboots! I think I have just found my new signature (with your permission, of course).

Like so...

Oh, please - they forgot some of the really geeky hobbies! For example:

1) Watching two bunches of big guys shove, jump on, trip, leap upon, and generally grope each other while throwing a ball around a field.
2) Watching a bunch of cars drive around and around.
3) Watching two people hit a ball back and forth across a net.
4) Watching a group of people hit a small ball a number of times till it falls into a hole. And then do it another 17 times.
...

You get the idea :D

Thees aren't geek hobbies. These are jock hobbies. While we geeks are so geeky that we try solving things without violence (some actually try to avoid combat in RPG's), that's nothing for "real men" (i.e. jocks). They want full body contact. And not just on the field. The best part of the game for them is going to the collective shower and rubbing each other down ;) You know, "manly stuff" (This is my contribution to the war of stereotypes)
