Just dug up this info on one of the web sites.

Tick vs Season 2

For some reason they are also dropping an episode from this collection. The First volume was missing "Tick vs the Mole Men" which was a forgettable episode. This time around however it's rather more serious as it's "Alone Together" which was the episode with the Galacticus parody character and was generally very funny.

I do however have a theory as to why they are dropping an episode from the first two season collections. Both seasons were 13 episodes and the third season is only 10. So I have a suspicion that the third season collection will have the two "missing" episodes. Since that will give you 12 episodes in all the sets.

The "Mole Men" episode was dropped for legal reasons, or so I'm given to understand.

Dunno about "Alone Together," though.

I've only seen this as speculation and I don't see what legal reasons there would be for pulling the episode. I mean the only one I can even think of would be the vague resemblance to Cindy Crawford. Personally, I doubt she's even heard of the series, much less would sue over a vague resemblance in a clear parody (that doesn't even cast her in a bad light). I mean look at what South Park has gotten away with and nobody's tried to sue them over far more defamatory material.

That, or they will release "The Tick vs. The Complete Series Boxed Set" somewhere down the road and sucker people into buying it again.

While I cannot now find a source, since this was a while ago, I know that the legal issues were reported by multiple entertainment news sites. It had to do with who created the originals for some of the characters, or some such thing.

I don't know the specifics, but I do know that it came from enough mostly reputable sources that I consider it far more than mere speculation.

I suspect that you are getting some of the issues regarding the Live action series confused with the animated series. Fox Children's TV (or what ever they call it) owned the rights to characters who were introduced in the animated series, but not those who were introduced in the comics. So Batmanuel replaced Die Fledermaus and likewise with Captain Liberty - American Maid. But the Tick, Arthur and the Terror were fine.

The only characters original to that episode of the Tick were the mole men (pretty generic) and the generic supermodel character.

At least according to Wikipedia. The reason Disney has given is "Due to creative considerations, episode #11 ("The Tick vs. The Mole Men") is not included. However, we hope to include it in future releases of The Tick."

Nope. I'm familiar with the legal issues behind the live-action series, and that's not what I'm talking about. I'm also aware that the problem was not Cindy Crawford, but something else behind the scenes.

However, as I can no longer find any of the original sources--this was all quite some time ago--there's not much more I can offer on the issue. :\

Found a couple of items.

This article reports an official statement from Disney/Buena Vista regarding the Mole Men episode.

This one indicates the reporters are aware of what the issue is, but don't want to say, except that it isn't due to Cindy Crawford (but implying there is some legal matter).
