So, what can those of you that have purchased this say about the race, its description and features without going into too-revealing detail (because that would obviously be bad and against forum policy)?

I think the racial features make sense, I dont agree with their life longevity, i find it too short for a turtle humanoid.
Regarding the other stuff in the package I only glanced thru it, I like the maps!

It's 28 pages.
There are 3 new monsters plus statted tortle npc & tortle druid as well as 3 specific ToA tortle guides.
There are some adventure hooks and then most of the rest is campaign descriptions of locations on their island.

On a slightly different note, I wonder how much of a weather balloon this release is for paid official PDFs? If this does really well and doesn't seem to get excessively pirated, will they consider PDF releases of other, larger releases in the future?

They are very short-lived nomadic-survivalist orphans. Which makes them ideal to be adventurers :p

Also, they have a shell that they withdraw into, claws, and they can hold their breath for reasons.

Yeah, that's true. Turtles can live for more than a century in real life. You'd think tortles would have a long lifespan too.

The three new monsters are: decapus, geonid, and topi.

The Snout of Omgar is an island off the southeast coast of Chult (near Samarach). You can see it on the big map of Chult. There's a tortle fort on it called Ahoyhoy, which is detailed, and a ruined temple to Umberlee for PCs to explore, along with a few other little bits and pieces on the island.

There are also some handouts, mainly dealing with the tortle guides.

Checks against being pushed or grappled?

Gusts of wind or flash floods?

I'm imagining the tortle withdrawing its head, tail, and limbs inside its shell when it uses its Shell Defense.
Is there another possibility?

How would that help from being grappled, pushed, etc. if the arms and legs are inside its shell, and it cannot see ehat is happening?

I guess it has to drop what it's holding, including weapons and shields which could be taken by an opponent.

Ever tried wrestling, moving, or pushing dead weight? Or a 500 lb boulder? I imagine that's where the advantage comes in.

Of course that would be tough. but if the boulder had legs to brace against the ground and arms to try to push me away, it would make it more difficult not less.
