The Triumphant Return of... Gaming W/Jemal (Updated: Post 34)

Jemal

Adventurer
**Please Read Post 34 and onwards for current situation.**

Hello, Gaming fans, and welcome to my humble abode. I was going to wait a bit longer before getting back into DMing here, but a recent accident has left me with a week off work, so I figured why not use the time constructively. :D

I've been pondering between starting a new game or REstarting an old one. So, I've decided to leave it up to you folks. If you remember playing in, Wanting to play in, or reading and enjoying any of the following games, please say so. I'll also be including a few new options.
(Each of the old games is linked to the original ooc thread in case anybody wants to get some info on it)

Epic Problem: Prevention/Return to Power (LVL 30)
This was originally 2 different games, one for evil and one for good. I'm thinking I'll drop it to just a 'good' one if we end up doing this one.

Final Fantasy J (Lvl 11 Final Fantasy campaign)

Jemals Prisoners (Lvl 12 Prison Dimension)

Mutant High (M&M LVL 12)

New:

Post-Apocalyptic Adventuring:
Inspired by Fallout/Terminator. D20 Modern with a bit from future tech.
This would be a fairly open-ended game, though I do have several plot-hooks ready and available should the PC's seem to be growing too.. complacent.

The Castle:
The land is being torn apart by war, and the PC's have found the one thing that can save it - The original seat of Power for the government of the land, it is said The Castle drew people to it, and to it's owner's cause.
This game would start off as a dungeon crawl to clear out the castle's current inhabitants/guardians, and after that the characters would become leaders of a small settlement, attempting to unite their fracture land - through diplomacy or war is your choice.
Main Elements: Combat, Mass combat(war), Diplomacy

For the Restarts, player preference will obviously be given to anybody who was there for the original. So, what do people think?

Heya Jemal!

Welcome back!

I am up for rejoining as many of those games as you feel like running...though I encourage you to take it easy at first. Also, the epic game in particular would probably be pretty hard to run.

Your two new ideas also sound like fun. I am especially fond of post-apocalypse settings.

I have some questions!

1) Have you considered recreating Epic Prevention/Problem as a 4e game? The high end 4e levels are lower intensity than level 30 in 3.5...but also a whole lot easier to run (and frankly, to play :)).

2) Will there be access to mutation rules in the PA game? Your examples of Fallout and Terminator suggest not...but even Fallout had the FEV. :)

3) In the X-men game, are we continuing the original plotline, or resetting it? It might be tricky picking it up again, unless we're fortunate enough to get the same, or nearly the same, cast.

I'm REALLY interested in 'The Castle' concept.... I have always enojoyed games like Pendragon or Birthright that give a mix of adventuring in with running a kingdom of sorts and wars and battles and such.... consider my random raffle ticket and my hat tossed in on 'The Castle' please! I'll be interested to see how you run with it if this is one you choose to run....

I was digging the FF game, (or that dungeon delve one, where I played Rhokkan the troll, but I didn't see it listed).

Of course, the castle could be really interesting as well. ( I echo Rathan in that respect)

Shayuri - I'm not going to be running any 4e games in the forseeable future b/c
A) I don't have enough experience with it, and
B) From what I HAVE experienced, I've not been all that enticed to learn more.

Don't worry about Epic being too much for me, It's really not all that much more work than a normal game is, as I'm very used to dealing with Epic stuff due to my gaming group's like of it.

In the Post-Apoc game, the PC's will all be normal(well, genetically speaking) humans. Mutations/robots will be left to the NPC's, I'd like to have the group be fairly normal people trying to survive in an abnormal world. I may make 1 or two exceptions, depending on how well worded the requests are and how many players there are.

I'd love to continue Mutant High on from where we left off, but I know for sure a couple people won't be coming back, which makes things complicated. I'll have to figure out whether to do a hard boot or not when I found out how many of the original students are willing to return to the school. (How many players we get back. ;) )

Renau1g: When I was looking through my older games I came across the Labyrinth one and thought about it, but I honestly can't remember what I had planned for it, and looking back it appears to be just an aimless dungeon crawl (though I know I had some cool story points for the future...). It may return (or something similar to it) in the future.

Rathan - How The Castle ends up running is very dependant on the playstyles of the PCs that end up in it. If the group's into talking things through and plans on going through things diplomatically, it'll be mostly roleplaying, social gatherings, and social skill checks (With combat when that fails). If the characters are more into the "join me or die"/"Kingdom by Conquest" style, then there's gonna be a lot of mass unit combat. I'm hoping for something in between. :D

Hmmm... I wonder how easy it would be to get into "Miranda" land after a almost 6 months of her being placed on the shelf. Wow.. that sounded dirtier then need be.

Anyways, playing her again will give me an reason not to revisit her concept in my own pbp super/pulp hero game.

Jemal, I understand about the epic game...it's all good.

Do you want to start up where we left off, or new characters and restart? I seem to recall that we'd just barely restarted last time...but again, too many new folks might make it easier just to reset to zero than to try to parachute folks in and out again.

With the Castles game, would we have actual characters and RP, or would it mostly be a sort of strategic-level freeformy game?

I wouldn't mind trying a hand an an epic game as well.. my only issue is I've not had much experience with it at all nor do I have the epic level handbook (which I could get my hands on if I REALLY need to).... if I could get some help in that one making a character that would be best and I'd toss me hat into the ring as well....

as well can I get some basic info on what kinda gold-age we have to spend on charas and point buy info and such like please Jemal?

- Rathan
