Upper Krust, some of your choices are quite interesting, I would have never come up with labour or skill portfolio! But what about portfolio for a God whose dogma is based on manipulating others, something via Lies portfolio? What about Duty/Honour( Law? Stoicism?) Valor(Strenght?) Mercy/Compassion(Life? Stoicism?) or Pain? And what Portfolio would you give to Zurvan?

Hi Lord Talos mate! (haven't got used to calling you Melkor yet mate - hope you don't mind!?)

Well I heard you have ideas for two alternate versions for each portfolio in WPS, I expect evil version of Wealth (Greed) and Love (Lust).

Secondary aspects are discussed but not (mechanically) differentiated - there simply isn't enough space.

However, remember that the 1522 possible combinations have an effect - so Wealth + Evil = Greed; or Love + Chaos(?) = Lust

What about Hatred?

Hate is a secondary aspect of Revenge.

By the way Wisdom sounds better than Understanding!

Mmmmm...perhaps.

What is the reasoning for Stoicism vs. Disease?

Off the top of my head...

Stoicism/Guardianship/Constitution vs. Disease/Sickness

Strength/Heroism vs. Fear/Weakness

Life + Peace for Mercy/Compassion

Evil + Revenge/Hate/Torment for Pain

Ok, here's a new question (I think... you probably answered this back before I started following your threads...): You have stated before that very high-rank divinities (i.e. above greater god) don't really have active worshippers anymore and rather rely on cosmic energy. So... if they no longer have any real churches to speak of, and no one converting new followers, how do they continue to advance in rank (assuming they do)?

Also, what's the schedule looking like for the print version? I don't have a credit card and don't know anyone else with a paypal account, and I can't wait until June for the Epic Level book to deal with the level 19 monk in my game.

When will your sourcebook be completed so we can all check this out?

I have informed the prospective publisher (I am in contact with) that the writing will be completed on or before March 24th (five weeks today).

However, there are still a couple of issues to be dealt with. Some of which I will be putting to people here in the next few days to gauge opinions.

It sounds interesting, especially in light of the fact that WoTC's Epic Level Handbook will not include this kind of information.

I think both the Epic Level Handbook and Deities & Demigods will be excellent books: I am pretty sure some of my Immortal Feats will be similar to Epic Level Feats and my Divinity Templates will be similar to their equivalents in Deities & Demigods and my Character Progression (above 20th-level) similar to both.

But other than that I think there are certainly more than enough differences to warrant purchase of each for anyone wishing to run Epic/Immortal Campaigns! Not least, the 'worship points' mechanics themselves that fundamentally equate the mortal and the divine.

Well its not quite that black and white...

So... if they no longer have any real churches to speak of, and no one converting new followers, how do they continue to advance in rank (assuming they do)?

...there are a number of ways to advance without worshippers:

1. Syphoning cosmic energy from the planes themselves (a slow process; which is why most of the cosmic heavyweights are aeons old);

2. Syphoning cosmic energy from other deities (a quick way is to destroy them; as with the 'Quickening' in Highlander - but you only gain a fraction of their power in that instance, however it is an instantaneous transfer, otherwise you have the option of draining them totally, but as with the planes its a slow process).

3. Sponsoring other deities, under such cases you gain a mandatory 10% of their energy. You didn't think these deities were taking an interest just because they liked you.

4. Founding a Pantheon/Becoming a Pantheon Head; similar to sponsoring. One of the reasons Pantheons like to recruit new immortals.

eg. Odin would gain 10% from every other Norse God.

5. Certain Artifacts hold reservoirs of cosmic energy which could either be used or syphoned.

Also, what's the schedule looking like for the print version?

At the moment we are concentrating on the .pdf. Once that happens I will be able to give more specifics on the print version.

Remember you only gain 10% and these would likely be from weaker deities with about one tenth (or less) energy to begin with.

Even if Zeus had 10 Intermediate Gods and 100 Lesser Gods under him the amount he would gain from them likely wouldn't take an Intermediate God to Greater God.

Every Intermediate God under Zeus would give him (on average) +1%, every Lesser God +0.1% so you can see its not unbalancing.

I know of course you've accounted for everything , so this must come out in the wash, right?
