Highlander (1986) is the only real movie. All the other movies are just poor imitations of the real thing.

I was and still am a big fan of the TV series (own all 6 seasons), as well as Adrian's and the character Duncan. So if they can the recipe for the series onto the big screen I will be there.

They might not be that bad... I mean, I'll admit, Endgame was a dog... a mangy, rotting, zombie dog with rabies that needed to be put down before it could menace anyone else with its evil... but maybe The Journey Continues might actually try and distance itself from that sort of thing.

Endgame was nowhere near as bad as Highlander 2.

Unless of course, you're one of the countless fans who've blocked out that portion of their memories in order to preserve their sanity.

I think the worst part of Endgame was Christopher Lambert trying to be an unaging Immortal... when he obviously no longer looked the part.

His depressing, "I'm tired of the Game, and I want out" attitude was annoying, IMO. Duncan was cooler than Conner. Case in point: Connor's chosen to rot away in some dungeon somewhere, while Duncan takes on like 5 or 6 Immortals at the same time.

That and Kell... I thought the Kurgen chewed scenery... but that guy... they probably broke the budget on the mayo needed so he could choke down all those setpieces...

Between Kell and Damodar, has that actor played any character that was not insanely over the top? Besides, I didn't see Kell as the bad ass Immortal he was supposed to be; there were plenty of evil Immortals in the TV series who'd have cleaned his clock without breaking a sweat (and some of those (Kalas comes to mind pretty quickly) chewed the scenery up fairly well too).

Another problem: the movie tried to squeeze too much in and failed. For example, the whole storyline about the rogue Watchers. How were they important? Or the 2,000 year old Chinese guy hanging around in Kell's posse; he was supposed to be significant, but his part amounted to very little in the end too.

There were a lot of problems with Endgame that come from the amount of material and the way they tried to handle it, as well as the casting of Bruce Payne as the villain. It COULD have been a good movie - it had all the elements of a good movie - but it wasn't. There's probably enough story for two movies, but with budget, there can be only one!

Connor's diatribe about wanting out, I can see... heck, the guy's supposedly already won it twice... I'd be miffed too. But seriously, his want out is understandable given elements of the story... but there are problems with the way those elements are handled in the early part of the movie that make it hard or impossible to connect with that part of the story, so it comes across a little whiny.


And you're right... I don't really consider the alleged Highlander 2 as part of the timeline - trying to makes me convulse. Highlander 3 was actually enjoyable, if not still hard to stomach considering they said he WON in the first one... but I let that slide because I didn't feel bad watching it.


I like Duncan... I like Adrian Paul, actually. So I'm up for it if they're willing to try it. Heck, I'll even go into the first one without the baggage created by Highlander 2 and Endgame. If they botch it... I'll deal with it then.
