"What’s a platinum edition you ask? Well, the goblins at the warehouse have been watching a lot of British baking show, and since we can’t give any real details about this platinum edition anyway, we’ll give you a lightly abbreviated recipe:

-include the entire module divided into booklets that are easier to manage.
-fold in 20 wizkids painted minis
-lightly dice 5 or more full-size battle maps
-fold in 60 encounter cards
-brush with handouts, jewelry
-bake
-serve chilled with bonus jam blending bonus art, bonus encounters, pre-built pcs, and whatever else is moving around the warehouse too slowly to escape"

Gaming is fun, and fun is for everyone
I'll say that if you are interested and able to purchase a B&G box, but feel like you won't use it soon because of the pandemic, buy it anyway to use later.

I know you probably want to wait until things are more settled, but Matthew Lillard when interviewed seemed to say that their business has suffered due to the pandemic, so it's great to support them now... otherwise B&G may not still be around after this thing.

The lack of digital versions of the extras definitely is something that's going to affect prestige businesses (in this industry and elsewhere, I imagine). A push for better VTTs (I just followed no less than 3 Kickstarters in the past 3 months, many of which started development well before covid hit the US) means minis and high quality handouts area all going to move lower down people's priorities in some cases.

Call me a cynic, but I have a hard time believing their business was booming in the first place. Their products, which are without a doubt high-quality, are just too expensive and too niche.

About that, there was a announcement yesterday saying the this content was to be removed 'cause a ''change of circumstances and miscommunication''.

The main theory for now is that the MTG part of WotC did not like to share the ''card game to D&D rules'' with another new player.
Wait, they are removing the League of Legends Subclasses and all that off of Beyond!?!?

2e boxed sets people often wish for were $25-30 in 1989, not $500 for a platinum edition boxed set from Beadle.
I'm not exactly sure what you are saying, my apologies. If you are merely wanting 80s prices, that's not too realistic. Further, those prices are what caused TSR's collapse in the late 90s.

Having said that, I do find this price a bit much.

My post should have included a quote about old boxed sets....they were 25-30 back then and would be around $60 now with inflation so it was to say we can’t compare $500 beadle platinum box to those 80s boxed sets in price or desire to purchase.

Those who wished for boxxed products like in the days of old should put up or shut up

At $499 theres way more things Id rather than spend my money on than this glorified edition of the regular book. Everything thats included in the platinum boxed set is pretty much useless to me and even then nowhere near worth its price tag.

Has nobody noticed the wrong map posted here for Icewind Dale Platinum Edition?
That map in pictures that start this thread is of Khorvaire, which is the Eberron Campaign Setting.
