They made it! They really made it!

It's not due out 'til next April, so all your non-gaming spouses are off the hook for Christmas!

I'm not sure whether this book speaks more to the resurgent success of D&D or the drying up of the well of "Dummies" titles. Either way, I trust Slaviscek and Baker will do a pretty good job.

More exposure = more players = more cumulative creativity = better hobby.

Plus, I am sure Hasbro is raking in some cash on this, which refelcts well on the D&D department of Wizards.

So.........is this gunna explain "crunch" and "fluff" and "munchkins" and "TPK" and "BBEG" and "role vs. roll-playing" and "powergaming" and "min-maxing" and "meta-gaming"?

Everything I needed to know about roleplaying, I did learn in kindergarden.

I learned the 'let's pretend' bit real well. It was the 'get's along well with others' and 'can sit still for 10 consecutive seconds' that gave me trouble.

Wonder if my wife would hurt me if I gave her that for her next birthday? :D

My wife would either hurt me in quite the manner that I'd never get the chance to read the book

OR

She would say thank you, not read it so I'd have to read it and explain to her everything as we go along. Like in our current game. The things you do for love...
;)

Why not just read the rules. 384 pages is way too long and the dummies books are usually worthless crap anyway. Anyone ever read one?

My guess is that Hasbro financed this as a PR piece. My guess is enough fans will buy it to cover costs and it will bring the D&D name up in the mainstream again. Not a bad idea depending on the overhead costs.
