Things I would not like to see in the new D&D movie:
The new D&D movie.
That said, if I had to actually take the premise that there will be things worth seeing in this movie, I'd mention the following:
mind flayers
drow (evil drow, not more Drizzt-wannabes)
liches
In fact, I'd say the director should just go adapt Paul Kidd's White Plume Mountain into a screenplay. Now that would make a good movie (despite some canon inaccuracies), even without the three things I mentioned above.
I, of course, will see this if its in theaters, and buy it if it comes out straight to video. I, too, am such a tool.
Maybe a couple of accurate D&D references, just a couple would do.
Either no Wayans brothers or all the Wayans brothers.
No nameless dwarfs who look like Joe Piscopo on a three day bender. Might we have a dwarf who actually doesn't seem like a last minute rewrite to the script. Maybe even multiple dwarves with actual personalites. I don't think wanting decent dwarfs is too much to ask for.
Somebody to point out that Dark Elves are the evil ones in D&D.
A written apology for the first movie and a promise that somebody on the set actually picked up a D&D book and flipped through it before they started filming this time.
What would I like to see? Well, besides something that doesn't suck I would LOVE to see something that I can point to (besides LotR) that makes a good example out of my hobby. Adapt one of the current novels if they have to, but even on a $25 million dollar budget a good movie could be made. Not that I have ever made a movie before...
Seriously, I would like to see at least one cool swordfighting scene a la "The Princess Bride" or "Rob Roy." And a cool bard character with some good songs to sing.
