Tiefling as a core race?

This is about the stupidest idea I've ever heard of. Teiflings as a PC race was why I abandoned FR as a setting after 3E came out.

I'm all for a core-race Tiefling. Just being in the PHB doesn't mean a race is common. None of the worlds I've run have had Half-elves or Half-orcs all over the place (even my Eberron).

Second picture is a Fighter-Rogue combo and the Rogue is most definitely a Tiefling.

That Tiefling (or one remarkably like her) has been featured in a ton of pictures in Dungeon during the SCAP, and perhaps longer.

That's screwy, and I can't say that I like it. Why are demon-spawned children suddenly as common as elves and dwarves in the "default" world of D&D?
"As common as"?

You mean like how Wizards are a core class, so suddenly they're as common as farmers?

This is a game about heroes, and heroes are the exceptional ones.

If you don't like the flavor of a race, you can always leave them out of your campaigns, or file their serial numbers off and call them something else.

Besides, half demon/oni/spirit people are a fantasy staple.

Common among heroes.
Does every other band of heroes in the land have a demon spawn in tow?

It just comes out of left field.

My group consists of three humans and a warforged. No elves or dwarves.

Where do you get "it's an option" == "it's COMMON"?

Terrible idea. Paizo pushed a tiefling iconic character in all the art for their Age of Worms AP. I guess they are the new drow? I missed that. Better tieflings in my campaign than warforged though. That would just cheapen Eberron. Unless Eberron becomes the default world, hmm....
