Tiefling Warlord for KotS + Extra Skill Challenge

The multiclassing feats have stat prereques, and you can only take one.

Warlords are supposed to be leaders, this means you shouldn't be able to create a Warlord which can't preform the basic task of healing the party. This one can't do that at first level, thus missing the entire point of the roles system as described to me.
Leaders don't JUST heal. They buff. This guy is better at buffing. Actually, looking at the warlord abilities (Particular Guarding Strike and Bastion of Defense) are all about buffing.

Either 1) They didn't give the Warlord the inspiring word because there were space reasons (like the half-elf), 2) They assume that any party using the pregens will of course have a paladin and a cleric in addition, or 3) This is a tactical warlord, who doesn't get Inspiring Word, because Inspiring seems to be keyed off Charisma.

This excerpt about the Warlord states that all of them have inspiring word, so I think it was accidently left off this pre-gen. I don't think it was done for space, as there is room after Steel Monsoon.

No mention of what inspiring word does... how are some of you concluding it's the same as the cleric's healing word?

Or 3) they screwed up.

If its a space issue, don't multiclass him; with a standard feat their would be more than enough space for inspiring word. The published information does not support your assertion that is is a choice

From the warlord preview

"Build Options: Inspiring warlord, tactical warlord
Class Features: Combat Leader, Commanding Presence, inspiring word"

It's a power all warlord's have. Some powers, like commanding presence, function differently for different builds. But all builds have those features.

I am glad to see that the PHB fluff of hide armour (even though it is light) as restrictive is backed up by the -1 AC penalty. Lots of arguments over that after DDXP with the ranger etc:)

Oh and that is a pretty cool PC, and multi classing feats are a league better than others we have seen. I doubt any of my PCs will be without one.

So just as a general matter I'm not impressed with the choices on this one.

Leaf on The Wind has an awesome name in all but strikes me as a hard thing to use well while you're learning the game. Contrasted with Warlord's Favor which is dead simple and plays off this Warlord's stat mods well it's so obviously a bad choice.

I can sympathize with not wanting an "All Tactical" warlord but having the daily "Bastion of Defense" would have been a better place to swap that out. It would also let this Word-less warlord "heal" a bit.

Still not feeling the tiefling encounter power either.

Did somebody say Tiefling Wailord?

Reviewing the article leads me to believe the warlord did indeed trade in one of his abilities to heal for the ability to buff. It also leads me to believe that inspiring word is more for temporary hit points or defenses than actual healing.

... Lets say, that if I allowed a similiar level of mis-information or incorrect information or simply missing information to be distributed, in my role, I'd quickly not have a job.

I applaud those WoTC staff members who post on these boards, clearing up issues and the like.

However, that doesn't allow the level of editting and error-checking that I'm seeing so far.

Yeah it is a bot worrying. Will I be buying PHB1.1 latter on in the year to get it errata free? I hope that the core books have been proof read up the ying-yang. Cos a lot of what we have seen so far hasn't:(

I'd have proof read them for free;)
