To Catch a Crimelord, or Down the Rabbit Hole (garyh judging)

Lily watched the shadow creature dissipate with a curious expression on her face. Deciding to consult with the locals, she whispered her questions to the air and considered what she knew of such things. Its form intrigued her and she hoped she could sort it out.

When she had determined all that she was able to she set about tending to the injured, using her magic to bolster the others' recoveries.

Arcana (1d20+8+4=23) for what the hell was that thing. :)

Ok, healing.

Lily will use the Healing Spirit she has remaining at the end of the fight to spend a healing surge herself and heal Georg another 1d6. After resting she'll use it twice more, on herself and kruk, and give an extra 1d6 to Grim and Raiyek respectively.

Georg, Grim, and Raiyek. (1d6=5, 1d6=6, 1d6 =3)

The creature is of the shadow realm, these type of creatures are known to serve Zal'Ekthees, although you can't recall any specifics about this creature, he's known to have some involvement with undead and is likely some sort of demon, although is rumoured to be trapped elsewhere. You can tell that the creature you fought was smaller and less powerful than some of them can be.

Raiyek takes the necklace with the key and the note, showing both to his companions. "It seems that these men and the shadow creature were in the service of Mr. X. And it also seems he may be worse than a simple crimelord ... could his 'gift' be that creature of shadows?"

"If he is indeed involved with demons or other supernatural forces that granted his followers their powers, then we should not allow him to complete whatever it is he alludes to in this note. What do the rest of you think?"

Georg's expression sours as he sees the items. There are truly more powerful and dangerous creatures such as this one. If Mr. X is attempting to bring more of these creatures and perhaps their master Zal'Ekthees into our world, we should hurry and stop him.

Looking over the items you can tell the necklace is magical, upon closer inspection you can tell its a Necklace of Keys (AV2) - grants an item bonus to Thievery (open locks only) & 1/day as a minor action, if you're grabbed or restrained you can t-port 3 squares.

Georg looks over at Carolina. Perhaps you should carry this key instead of Raiyek. It will help us open some doors and perhaps keep those "dirty tentacles" off of you. Let's move now that we have rested.

"The question is, where do we move to? We know that we want to prevent Mr. X from completing whatever it is he's doing, but we know not where he is. Although ..." the elf pauses for a moment to organize his thoughts, then, "Do you know if any of this Zal'Ekthees' followers perform humanoid sacrifices? If so, then perhaps the dwarves that chief Kniva asked us to talk to have gotten sucked into Mr. X's schemes."

I would hope the people of this region are only pawns in this or not involved at all. Truly dark business. I trust we will find SOME answers with them.

Kruk keeps himself busy adjusting his armor and sharpening his axe. "Hmmmf...demons...never a dull moment...never ha ha!" He mind shifts to trying to figure out what type of food is lodge in his beard...and for how long?
