To Catch a Crimelord, or Down the Rabbit Hole (garyh judging)

"We must give them the sacrificial offerings, as our ancestors did in the ancient days. I have written an edict that is to be read at the sacred stones near the barbarian village of Reklingham. Anyone who wishes to trade with us must offer sacrifice to Cihuacoatl to consummate the deal. Once the edict is read, Cihuacoatl will expect it enforced to the letter of the contract." the dwarven king replies.

Oh!

um..., Lily bit her bottom lip with the sort of expression of one who is not quite sure how to proceed, your majesty, if I may be so bold, how...how do you know that this is what your god desires if you don't even know what the offense is?

She followed her question with the best innocently inquisitive face she could muster.

"Um...your honor...pardon me asking, but what is it that we are supposed to sacrifice?" Kruk states with an expression of confusion all over his face.

Georg looks less confused then Kruk, but more horrified. He coughs and almost chokes That's barbaric! Since when do mines improve with blood? He recovers and realizes what he has said and looks around at his allies then back at the king with a bit of fear.

High Priest Avonathemon has read in his divinations that this is what is needed of us to get our favor back." the dwarven leader replies to Lily

"Well, there is a varying amount of tribute required to be offered to Cihuacoatl, major trading will require a full sacrifice, but minor ones are sacrifices of limbs, or one's eye." he adds

Listening to the outburst from the dwarven wizard, he gestures everyone closer. "Hmph, you question the High Priest? I would have you executed on the spot, if not for what I've perceived to be a virtuous nature. Maybe if you can explain why you feel this edict should not be invoked than I will consider it" k’ul ahau Nuun Yax Ainsays

Georg takes on a pained expression at the words of the king, but then his mind races to his knowledge of religions for an argument that will persuade his distant cousins. In a low voice meant only for those close by he says Milord, how exactly was the divination read? I know that a divination can have many meanings and perhaps Cihuacoatl may request various tributes other than blood alone.

[sblock=Religion] I have got a +8 on Insight, but a +5 on Religion so really the second is better since the DC is only 10

It takes along time, but Kruk finally gets the connection between the eyeless one barbarians and the dwarfs. He stomach ties in knots, but he manages to gain his composure. "Lord king, is there any other way. How about we sacrifice of a large beast of some sort. There are plenty around here aren't there? Would your god accept that instead?"
