To Kill A God - I really need help!

The Question:
What spells or abilities are good to use against a god?

I know that all gods are immune to transmutation (polymorph, petrification, etc), energy drain, ability damage/drain, mind-affecting effects, electricity, cold, acid, disease, poison, stunning sleep, paralysis, death effects, disintergration, or anything that imprisions or banishes (including dimensional anchor, repulsion, turning and rebuking).

I can get through their spell resistance (44 in this case) and the damage reduction (47/+4), but how can I stop the god from running before I can kill her?

The Background:
In the epic campaign I play in we met up with the Kou-toan god Bliperploop (sp) and had an exceedingly short battle with her before she ran away. I had a few issues with the DM's Caveat that was used (mainly I held an action to counterspell and wasn't allowed to use it), but it got me thinking. How do you kill a god?

The Whole Story:
The party is a 32nd fighter/sorceror/eldritch knight/eldritch master, a 31st level thief/wizard, a 20-something level thief/fighter Cohort, a 29th level Dragon Disciple and a 31st level Bard (our 31st level cleric was absent).

While scouting an underdark lake, my character was attacked by a Kou-toan Kraken and summarily dispatched, which brought us to the goddess' attention. The dm used the stats for Umberlee in FR Faith's and Panteon. Blip showed up via Time Stop and then we charged (well, I charged, but if I am going to die, it's going to be a good story). I cast dimensional anchor (didn't know that counted as imprisonment via the rules and therefore gods are immune) and a flamestrike (prestige class allows me to access psion and cleric spells and I have 3xAutomatic Spell and 1x Multispell), did a full attack (persistant dire charge) and saved an action to counterspell (we play 3rd edition and the dm allows this, and yes we are epic and broken). I did some damage with my attacks, but no one else really did anything much before her action in which she Time stopped again, dropped 8 ancient water elementals and ran.

I am sure we will meet her again for several reasons:
1. My character is seeking divinity
2. The King that we put in power and our island are currently at war with the Kou-toans
3. I am going to hunt down all of her "children", the kraken and slaughter them until she shows up......did I mention the group is primarily Chaotic Neutral.....I'm Chaotic Vindictive!

Thanks for the help, I saw a wonderful thread on using Chain metamagic and I thought the smart people on enworld would have some hints.

Ugh. You may be out of luck.

Especially now that she knows you're gunning for her. Whatever loophole you may discover is one she's going to think of as well and attempt to counter.

My advice? Track her down to her throne room/lair. Make her defend her home base, if she loses that, she'll only have more people after her. If nothing else, you should gain some loot out of the assult and maybe some good intel.

Happy gaming!

You're not good, so why not rake a hostage, to lure her in? Then you can give her an ultimatum- fight you now or this goes on until her children are all dead. Then start crying because I got nothing after that. :D

LOL, that made me laugh out loud.

Actually, I was going to start scrying/vision/etc to find all of her beloved Kraken, which a bit of research told us that she makes personally out of her most loyal subjects and considers them her "children". I figure, if killing one got her attention, killing all of them must be good....right?

That or just start attacking the Kuo-toan cities. At 32nd level, going to war and having it be a long lasting affair of boat to boat combat, just doesn't seem right. I much prefer to find the biggest city, do as much damage, run away when needed, wash and repeat. Maybe combine the two. Kill a Kraken and take it's severed head to the capital, drop some massive fireballs and horrid wiltings, maybe an incendiary cloud if I am feeling generous and go find the next kraken.

I guess I will have to rely on melee combat. Our characters are butch in a lot of ways, but very poor magic wise. I have one epic item and my best weapon is a +4 katana. Luckily, I read the thread on chaining spells and I have been chaining Greater Magic Weapon.

Well in a campaign where Deity slaying is on the menu, I'd suggest looking into researching forbidden artifacts that might be used by other gods to kill gods. Akin to the blood of the Golden Hart or something.

Team up with a rival diety and have them hold her down while you kill her. Fighting her on her home turf might be the worst thing depending on the Salient Divine Abilities she has, but may be necessary.

Killing her babies is the best way to piss her off but remember she's a deity and now that you have her ire, she can show up anytime to kill you. It's not sporting but she doesn't seem to be the sporting kind.

Besides looking for a godslayer artifact, or divine help, disrupting her power base is also a good idea. Depends on if deities are powered solely by their worshippers or have innate power aswell. If they have no power besides that which their worshippers provide then wiping out kou-toans is the best route. You might just be pissing her off more though.

Becareful of any alliances she might have with other deities. Having more than one pissed off deity gunning for you is not healthy!

It's important to remember that Deities are only immune to effects from beings with less divine ranks than they have. Equal rank or higher deities can affect other deities with powers a deity might normally be immune to.

Good luck
