I think so. Sigil was a bust and I feel like they were counting on monetizing it. My guess is 2024 wasnt the shot in the arm they were expecting. I think we're about to see a lot of splats coming in, which they had previously resisted to avoid burning out this edition. Later this year we've got what... Eberron, Horror, FR, plus whatever the Psion is in.
You can see the direction they wanted to go with the digital mini packs they have been releasing. They were going to charge us silly to get 3d minis for Sigil.

If it’s a D&D player options rulebook, sure. I wouldn’t ask an AI to devise a new game system or an adventure. It couldn’t devise Fate or Dread or Traveller.
Oh, hell no! Yeah. No way it could develop something -new-.

It can compile, it can compare, it can string words together in sentences and fill out formats.

But it can't -create-.

... yeah this is just a needless attack. But if you want details that support it:

1) Every corporation wants to make as much money for it's shareholders as possible while spending as little money to do it. Cutting their design staff to replace workers with AI would meet those criteria.

2) They have publicly pushed towards AI twice and been rebuked for it and backed down. But the CEO just executes the will of the Board, and the Board wants to use AI.

3) They also tried to slip AI art out without announcing it and got caught and tossed out a boilerplate Mea Culpa over it.

4) Some of their biggest names and publicly facing people are either leaving for a company that -isn't- publicly traded and thus can stand by its moral principles, or just getting laid off or removed.

This isn't paranoia or 'feels'. This is understanding what the animal is and recognizing behavioral patterns.

The only thing it missed was "Classes".

Stop assuming my emotional state, or how I feel about a company, Envy. It doesn't make for productive conversation.
Yeah, like so many other things in the business world, publicly traded corporations are the problem.

I think the writing is equally or even more negatively judged than art. The issue it that for some/many it is easier to spot AI art. However, if they use AI writing and get caught, I think the backlash would be even greater than what happened with the AI modified art.
Worth the risk to make the line go up and serve their shareholder masters? Maybe so. Like you say, AI writing is harder to detect and harder to prove.

Yeah, the CEO of the company that just bought my contracts just told me he intends to offshore all editor positions in the next 15 years and replace editorial assistants with AI within 5.

This, while slashing my pay by 30% and increasing my workload. I get to stay though because they want my expertise on publishing technology.

Yeah, stuff like that does nothing to dissuade me from the notion that they'd try to pass off so AI writing to save a few bucks in salary.

They want your expertise and to increase your workload, with the teaser of a 30% haircut to your pay? Renegotiate. You should not be agreeing to that. If you feel like it would take a while to find something else in your field, give it a shot anyway. After that, whatever the outcome of the renegotiation: look for something else. Don't wait to be laid off; leave now. You're welcome.
