Now that you mention it, I believe I did try Dispel Magic, to no avail. It's over a year since I played that particular game, so I can't recall exactly how I came across this information but, IIRC, the situation that affected my cleric was a 'known issue', which is why I wanted to give Darmanicus a heads up.

And I agree, Jim. The game is deeply flawed but it pulled me back in again and again.

As for Craft Rod, I can't remember a single rod that could actually be made. It simply looks like one of those points where coding went unwritten. I'd give it a miss. I'm not sure that Craft Wondrous Item works either. Crafting magic arms and armour, brewing potions, scribing spells and crafting wands all work, so go with those.

Damn shame that the game seems so broken. Aren't these things supposed to be, like, playtested........by humans?

Just invested in a brand new, state of the art PC and have been looking around for a load of the old favorites. ToEE looks DAMN fine on me PC.

Craft Wondrous Item does work, but some of the rerequisites seem buggy. For example, I wanted to add the Shock property to a weapon. The doucmentation says (I believe) that you have to have either Shocking Grasp or Lightning bolt spells available. I had only shocking grasp and couldn't do it. Once I got Lightning Bolt it worked fine. It does seem like some things I should be able to create I can't, but others work just fine. Gloves of Dexterity for everyone! :) Also, my sorcerer just hit 10th level and I'm cranking out Ioun Stones. Pretty cool.

On the first run-through, my dwarven fighter optimised his greataxe wielding skill, only to find a sword that was really worth swinging (mind you, it was an accident - we didn't mean to kill Prince Thrommel).

If you've read (contact)'s "The Liberation of Tenh" then you'd know that Thrommel can get himself killed in a padded room.

Played this through twice in ironman mode and had a great time with a fairly traditional party. Apart from that and the Craft Rod (I think) feat not working, there's nothing about party composition you have to really worry about - although Jim's advice re spontaneous healing is worth taking seriously.

If you're on XP SP2, I'd install the following:

1. Official Patch 1: ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/patches/to..._PATCH1_ENU.EXE
2. Official Patch 2: ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/patches/to..._ANY-PATCH2.EXE

Then install the latest mod pack:

3. Circle of Eight mod pack 3.04 (unzip and run .exe):
http://www.co8.org/files/patch/ToEE...ixes_V3-0-4.zip

4. Fixes by moebius2778 (unzip to your ToEE directory):
http://www.co8.org/files/patch/temple.zip

There is a third official patch but the Co8 modders advised against installing it. There's another fan mod, for which you'd skip step 4 but I never tried it.

Thanks mate but those official patches just aren't accessible. :(

Sorry about that. I plead cut and paste from an old post on the Co8 site. Thanks D'karr for the right link. :o

I've edited my earlier post in atonement.

Apparently when Infogrames took out the 'Evil' plotlines they damaged the code. The good folks at the late great Troika development studio were not at all happy about it.

They took out the Evil Plotlines??? This is probably what caused the buginess. You think with games like GTA III S.A. they would stop worrying about 'evil' pc's.

I'm going to have to go try an evil party now. I hadn't tried it as of yet.

Thanks for the new link, I'll try it tonight.

I've already started a game; if I download whatever patches etc. will I have to start again?

I don't think so, but if you're not too far along I'd consider it anyway. Who knows what kind of buggy state you might have already introduced?
