Well, Wizards have finally done it - released a feat that allows your Dex modifier to damage. :( Why have a good Str now?
Strength is still the most 'powerful' stat in the game, because there's still things such as 2-handed weapons and power attack along with other feats.

I'm not too keen on the more overtly supernatural ones, & some seem a bit high-powered for first level (heal 1d6/successful attack? seriously?), but there's enough that looks good to retain my interest. I still have to say I've slipped from 'absolutely must have' to 'very very likely to buy' (not much of a slip, but it is there).

First level ability doesn't necessarily equate to first level character....and doesn't necessarily mean you can have it at first level. Some prereqs might make it a low level power that you can't take until 4th level, like the warlock's invocations. Four grades of invocations, but some required certain prereqs...

We don't have the full text of those abilities, so we're not sure of the requirements.

Even so, healing 1d6+1 damage with a successful attack is not all that good at level 1. Sure, it's a lot of your hit points, but it...
a) requires you to be damaged before you hit,
b) requires there to be an enemy to attack, and
c) requires you to still be conscious!

Cheers!
