Trapped in Hell's Basement (DM: Mal Malenkirk Judge:Covaithe)

Haruka stares at Ashir for a moment before responding. "You want to learn from me? I-, but-, I mean, you?" She closes her eyes, then opens them slowly. When she speaks again, it is with the voice of one of the recently killed cultists. "If you have grown weary of your books and theories, then seek me out when we are through. I would be happy to teach you what I know, although you might not be happy to learn it."

[sblock=ooc]It sounded like a) no resting, ever, and b) we'd get our stuff from leveling immediately, hence the magical oils to make us appropriately geared. Although I'm curious as to what that means for our hp totals. Has Haruka taken 12 points of damage, or is she at 28 hp? Her current max hp is 40, so the two options are the same, but when she levels her max will be 46. So would she be at 28/46 or 34/46?[/sblock]

"But my books... I love my books, haven't you ever spent hours poring over forgotten lore in the hopes of stumbling upon some information that maybe could be the key to stopping these damnable Oni?" Ashir asks incredulously.

"Ok, maybe after this you can show me some of your techniques and I can reveal to you the thrill of arcane research. I'm sure there's a library here that we can gain admittance to." the genasi says exuberantly.

Max chuckles and shakes his head as he sits for a few minutes to inspect his equipment while listening to the back-and-forth banter between the two spell casters. "Well boys and girls, where do we go from here?"

Sheng rolls his eyes "Didn't you say that there was a jadite woman wearing my same robes? And that she said I was a traitor and such? We should be trying to get to her. Perhaps I could draw some information from her before... Well before the the obvious end that our enemies so far have shared. Perhaps we could spare her, given that she cooperates, which I find rather remote in the probabilities field." he wonders.

Max looks up as Sheng speaks. "Are you refering to me? I've known many Jadite women. But going after the one who is the traitor sounds like a good plan to me." Max gives him a wirey smile and then goes back to inspecting his equipment. "

Haruka rolls her eyes, "No, I'm pretty sure he's referring to the woman I talked to in this place's inner sanctum. My question is what possible information could you hope to obtain? It's pretty clear what's been going on here. Why don't you take a look at that book and see if you can come up with something helpful instead."

"Okay everyone. You heard the lady. Start looking at the book people. Let's go...chop chop!" He pauses for a moment while working on his sword with a wetstone. "All I know is that one minute I was trying to talk to a guard and then the next minute all hell broke loose with people swinging and shooting at us. Then, in a trail of blood and guts, we ended up here." Max chuckles and then speaks again. "Whatever you do sister (talking to Haruko, while pointing at Sheng) don't piss him off. I think he takes just as much joy in hitting friendlies as he does foes."

"The happenings in this foul place are of no concern to me, I am but a simple pawn here, bind to do as Lord Patrin says. My personal interests with Lana (/Was it Lana?/) are my own, and I will not discuss them with you. Enough is to say that I wish to have a chance to speak to her before you spread chaos upon her." Sheng notes, hands at his back. As the jadite addresses the book, Sheng raises an eyebrow. "Mine is not the skill of arcane research, although I could try; however I master the arcane arts of discipline and inner chi. I bend the arcane energies not with words or invoking ancient spells contained in books, I channel the chaos around me and within me and shape it in the balance's sake." He explains, and takes a short look at the book.
