Oh, the story is much better than just that flyer. They originally were scheduled to have their "convention" in the summer. Then they figured out no one would show, so they "just coincidentally" changed it to the same weekend as GaryCon. I think it's pretty obvious they wanted to capitalize on all the hard work the GaryCon organizers did for hotels and travel and marketing to get the people in town to begin with, so they wouldn't have to do any of that legwork themselves. Pretty typcial.

But then...

LaNasa had the audacity to ask Luke for $5000 for the right for GaryCon badge holders to also get into TSR Con for free.

Luke said a hard no.

Their entire convention is nothing but another grift; another way to try to get money without doing any actual work.

I do have a morbid interest in the attendence I'll admit. Gonna laugh if they get 0 or close to it.

If it goes the other way I'll laugh then self medicate with some Russian beer breaking my diet.

I went to Gameholecon and it wasn’t a big deal. I had experiences that I would miss. Also only did I not get COVID I didn’t get con crud either.
Yeah at this point I've been packed in tight in so many crowds at metal festivals, casinos, airplanes, that I'm just going about life and the lack of a mask mandate would make me more likely to go. But this "Con" seems more like a game store game day or something. Is this more of an event where they are hoping that GaryCon attendees will stop by for a bit and play a game during break in GC events?

I will be at GaryCon, by the way (my first con in years, by the way, and first outing since COVID. I'm hoping the peak becomes a valley by then). however, I won't be masked up all day for 12 hours a day. I'll be masked at the hall, obviously. But I'm only running Chromatic Dungeons for 4 hours a day. I'll spend about another 5 hours or so around the convention, but I'll be taking breaks in my hotel room where I won't have my mask on, to get some rest. So my tactic is to approach the con in bursts between breaks.

OMG, I buried the lede... TSR Con is being run out of the Dungeon Hobby Shop Museum... And the events listed for all 4 days don't even total up to the first 4 hour block of Gary Con. Also, the badge prices are quite reasonable at $5 a day to get into the door (you pay to play at each table) and there about 399 badges available each day... well less on Sunday...

What is the Fire Marshall capacity of the Dungeon Hobby Shop Museum?

For $5, there are probably some GaryCon attendees willing to pony up to see what all the fuss is about. A pity, really.

There were times when I was at GC that I could have mosied over and taken a look at the HSD. But not for a full badge price.

Edit - just saw it was 5 bucks to get in

I'd rather go to the Museum of Cranberry Farming.

Maybe they have some good cranberry-adjacent RPGs?
There's probably a 5e setting based on cranberry farming somewhere out there; there's a 5e setting on everything nowadays. Or creepy fan-fiction; there's also a lot of that going on (The new Salvatore's book: Drizzt romance a Unadrow Were-Cranberry!).

Added bonus? It is not managed by toxic ass-hats!

(I think. I'd have to get back to you on this...)

Wait, hang on. "You give me money and I'll people into my con for free"? How does that work, like, at all? Was there some twisted logic that would have this benefit Luke in some way?
