TURTLEDOME! (Battle Bone!) -- Part 2

[sblock=Trifecta]I love that "trifecta" has been picked up. In other news, I flew out to CA to see my friend and get him into treatment. He's been estranged for 7 years and in bad shape. I'm totally overwhelmed and exhausted by the whole thing.

However, I still check in here for some fun and escape. To be quite honest, I'm ready to move forward with the encounter, but my creative energies are sapped. Everytime I think about writing a post in character to respond to the suggestions made since I left, I give up.

Would it be alright if Finnian doesn't do any more pre-fight antics on his own initiative? I'm totally down with the group, whatever you want to do. Can I just tag along?

Maybe moving into combat would be better for me since it's more tactical and I don't have to try to keep up with the witty banter that everyone else uses so easily.

Thoughts?[/sblock]

"Enough!"

A skeleton with a peg leg stomps onto the stage. It wears a tall, spiked helmet and battered chainmail that jingles on its bones with every lop-sided step. And it has a big, bushy beard.

How a skeleton kept a big, bushy beard, you don't know.

"Uh, oh! Looks like the Dusty Quill team has upset the leader of the Legion of Bone, Boneral Clavicus Maximus!"

The Boneral slams the butt of his spear against the floor. He gestures to Mr. Pinch, who sits in his balcony, watching the proceedings.

"Chairman Pinch, we are here for battle, not words! Let us end this farce and enter glorious combat! There, the Legion will make this fleshy upstarts pay for their disrespect!"

"Indeed," says Mr. Pinch, waving his hand.

The party feels their hold on space and time shift, as they teleport...

//And roll for initiative!//

[sblock=baby is coming]I'm at the hospital waiting. Ill be busy but there will also be long periods of waiting around too. If I don't post right away, you know why [/sblock]

[sblock=ooc and Initiative] 1d20+3=15 I forgot to add +1 for level 2, so it's 16.

Weldon: Well done! :D Emral is a fantastic name, btw [/sblock]

Emral jumps up out of the huddle as Boneral speaks, pointing at him Oh yeah? Well *your* Momma's so boney... he breaks off as the teleport shifts him and the rest of the group. ...ooookay! Battle positions! Vaunea, guard Drivan. Finnian take the left, Emral take the right, stand up sit down fight fight fight! ...go team!

Emral charges up his first salvo of fire-based fury to lob at the legion of bowling pins!

//Have to vote for KenHood as well... Though somehow I don't see that going well for anyone involved...//

[sblock=In other news...]My other news has been busy too, thus the reason for my lack of posts. Life has been really busy with this time of the year and holidays and everything but also, this thread worked some more magic! My wife and I are now homeowners, so we're in the middle of packing and painting and all that fun stuff! Will be a little slow for a little while, glad that there was no waiting on me here![/sblock]

Initiative... [19,1] = (20) ... //wow, finally a high initiative!//

[sblock=OOC]
You know, I've been thinking that KenHood is a really strong, manly name for a boy
Just prepare your wife beforehand, because his voice will drop two octaves, hair will grow on his chest, and woman will hurl themselves at him just as soon you give him that name. :lol:

And by the by, congratulations on the baby and the new home!

TURTLEDOME!: It causes permanent monogamous relationships, spontaneous reproduction, and reliable-credit ratings![/sblock]

//Oh dear, I must now make a map! The formatting will take a wee bit, so come back a couple of hours after this post.

I'm going to have a 'Tokens' box with each DM post. This will let you know how many tokens (and their effects) that you have remaining for the three 'rounds' of the battle.

I'll make a 'Dave, Spirit of War' box, as well. This will let you know what Dave powers are available. Once a party member uses a Dave power, I'll hide the box until the next combat round, when the powers recharge.

The skeletons will have colored haloes. These won't be any special effects upon them. Instead, it's so I can track their initiatives. They'll attack by color groups (i.e. all the red skeletons go on the red turn and so forth).

My player initiatives are...
Drivan 20 (+2 for Dave = 22)
Emral 16 (+2 for Dave = 18)
Finnian 9 (+2 for Dave = 11)
Vaunea 5 (+2 for Dave = 7)

That's funny! Y'all rolled in alphabetical order.

At the start of each DM post, I'll put the Approvalometer (tm) ratings for each team, along with their effects. Don't forget to add those into your character's rolls and their 'mini-stats'.

For the minions (since there's going to be a LOT of them), I'll roll their attacks with real life dice. (I promise to use my ugly gray d20, which never rolls very good.) For any special baddies, I'll use CoCo. (And hey, in the games where I'm a player, I've rolled 3 20's since I've started using CoCo. I think the distribution of rolls is much better than Inivisible Castle. I highly recommend it!)

Finally, be sure to put your consumables (including the Uncle Mikey Potions and magic lenses) on your mini-stats.

If there's anything I've forgotten, let me know.//
