Vittero plants his staff in the roadway and runs toward Enri. The staff is only a symbol not a weapon. He figures that if he can close on the Hand, he should be able to negate any further attempt to generate such an electrical discharge. As Vittero starts forward Enri makes a complicated gesture with his left hand and mumbles to himself. Everyone else is significantly slowed due to injury. With two steps forward, Vittero snaps the fingers of his left hand. The strange play of shadow and light around Enri, ceases. Vittero can do nothing about the static field that is destroying the arrows of Astarte as they are fired.

The Hand grits his teeth but does not lose his concentration, summoning back his mount. The horse, with its hooves still engulfed in flames, appears next to the fallen form of Raven Elk. Raven Elk, who cannot move, is stomped and burned to death before he can even realize what has happened to him.

For Astarte, Enri is like staring into the Abyss. It is not possible to sense anything about the man. If he had not spoken or created lightning, she would doubt he was even there, but the pain was real. Glancing at the horse, because of its sudden appearance, it most assuredly real, and it is full of avarice, perhaps it cannot deflect arrows.

Once his horse has been summoned back, Enri turns his attention to Adisakti, taking a mighty overhand swing at him with his sword. Despite his physical injuries, the agile Faethrin partially deflects the blow with his left saber and spins out of the way, unable to counter. Though Taylar too is delayed, by Enri choosing Adisakti, he opens his flank to Taylar, who strikes him in the back with his left bludgeon. The thick leather absorbs most of the blow, but he does make a hit. The Hand coughs and growls, not used to being hit. The man now has to deal with being surrounded by three of the Outliers.

Unbeknownst to the combatants on the road, the Daughters of Dawn and Dusk are very evenly matched and injuries are still being traded on both sides. Taka, having more friends than enemies, is showing signs of overcoming his foes.

Seeing that the previous lightning vanished from existence just like he had made happen to the horse, Adisakti hopes the nearness of Vittero can spare him from another jolt. The first one was still hurting. Pushing through the pain, Adisakti is not much of a bender, so he must rely on his weapons to hit this fiend. "Three on one has to be good for us," he thinks.

Astarte screams in horror, almost dropping her bow, but a second later she angrily shoots into the neck of the hellish beast, then run toward her fallen friend without even bothering to check out if the steed is still dangerous or not. But in a halfway, she suddenly stops upon the harsh realization, there's nothing more she can do for him. Enraged, she turns toward Enri finally throwing her bow and drawing her sword to madly charge at him.

Taylar maintains his focus on his opponent, knowing if Enri survives, nothing else they do here will matter. He intends to manipulate waylines to increase his speed, and strike at Enri again. He mutters a curse in Maldrog, "You're just mad because we freed those girls you were abusing."

Being uninjured and unencumbered, Vittero is much faster than could be expected. His image blurs as he, very quickly, charges in at Enri. Though he has no weapon and cannot hurt the larger, armored man, he is an incredible irritant and demands the attention of the common enemy, allowing the slower Adisakti and Taylar great advantage in a triple team.

Enri swings twice at Vittero, unable to make contact. Just after his second swing, Adisakti, who is on the right flank and behind, thrusts his sword into the man, below the ribcage, piercing a kidney and causing significant blood loss. A fraction of a second later, as Enri begins to loose his balance, Taylar clips the left side of his hooded skull with his left bludgeon. The fiendish man falls to the ground. He is not moving and not conscious, blood continues to slowly ooze from his sword wound.

As Astarte screams at the appearance of the horse, the creature flinches at the sound, trying to regain its bearings on the combat situation. It never gets that chance. The arrow from Astarte, aimed at its neck, strikes true. Though the creature is from an outer world, its anatomy is still that of a nominal horse. The arrow cuts through the near carotid artery and punches out the other side of the neck. The flames extinguish as the animal staggers and begins to fall; however, with the loss of its summoner, it again vanishes from existence, before its body hits the ground.

The sounds of the two other sites of battle can be heard, but they seem slight. Within a few seconds of recognizing that the cause of many Cycles of conflict is now laying on the road, dying, Rachel comes from the west side of the road, indicating that her team was victorious. Maka and several archers emerge onto the east side of the road, dragging the bodies of Dusk assassins with them.

Without hesitation, Taylar brings one of his bludgeons down on the back of Enri's neck to finish him. "No one touch him!" he says. "His power can drain your life to heal himself if he is in direct contact." He turns to look at their fallen companion. "Can Raven Elk be saved?"

"No one touch him!" "His power can drain your life"
Astarte pours handsomely alcohol at each inch of Enri's body, then lights an arrow and shoot into his back.
"Suffer you murderer, no less that our friend did" she hisses with pure hatred "He couldn't defend himself, but you purposely summoned your bloodthirsty pet near him to have him killed a most painful death, even thought you had no gain out of it, you coward!"

Fatigued because of her injuries, strong emotions and relief that their lethal arch-enemy is ultimately gone for good, the woman sits down heavy in the very place she just stood. "I think we should tell the people from Outpost and Westford that it's over, and they're safe now."

With the rush of adrenaline abated, especially since his had been mystically enhanced, Adisakti lets out a long sigh and sits in the road, reflexively enhancing his natural rate of recovery. His image is no longer attempting to match the surroundings. "Hey Taylar, now that he is dead, take off his mask. Let us see what manner of fiend the man was... a horse from the Six Hells. I am way out of my depth, here."

... Taylar brings... "Can Raven Elk be saved?"
Astarte pours...
... Adisakti lets...
Responding to Taylar, Vittero says, "Yes, as he has only been dead for mere seconds, I know of a ritual where I can recover the Essence of Raven Elk into his body, but I do not think that he would want me to do that. He and I both believe in the immortality of that Essence, and his life was such that his Essence should now enter Reward for its next existence. I would want to deny him that and return him to this life of trials."

Vittero nods in approval as Astarte intends to cremate the body of Enri, where it lies. As the arrow smolders in his back, Maka walk up to him, grabs a handful of dirt from the roadway and blows it from his palm onto the corpse. "Good riddance," he says as he brushes the dirt from his hands. Rachel emerges from the other side of the road with two of her mates in tow. She merely nods at the survivors. The bare hint of a smile starts to form on her face as she looks at the corpse of Enri.

Hearing Adisakti's comment and realizing that Taylar is in thought, he walks up and pulls the hood from Enri's head. The man is not even Markidian. He is blond with pale skin. Shockingly, he is Centrin. Looking from Astarte to the burning arrow, he says, "This is as good of a place as any."

He waves his left hand over the body, magnifying the flames greatly, as they begin to consume the body. "How did such a man infiltrate the leadership of the Religion of Light? I say that the wearing of hoods and masks is a terrible idea and bodes ill for benevolence. In the future, I hope to influence a change on this!"
GM: This successfully concludes the Outpost Campaign. A new campaign, using these characters as they are currently developed and at their current residence of Refuge, will begin soon, and information will be posted for the new thread.

There will, of course, be room for more than 3 player characters. Eric will be running a new character, using the same number of developmental points as Adisakti, because that character was originally created by another player who quit long ago. Vittero, as the GM's NPC, will be parked in Refuge, as the leader and protector of that village.
