Maka will draw his knife, discarding the bow, and attempt to rush the bug, and bowl it over. If he can manage to expose its underside, he will stab it with the knife. Hopefully, the chitin is only one-sided, like a turtle.

GM: Maka drops his bow and rushes forward in one smooth motion. Drawing his knife, he strikes low at the beetle hoping to carry the swing through upending the insect. OOC: Maka: 11(fury) + 19(lethality) + 20(attack) + 91(d100) = 141 - 10(daze) = 131 Beetle: 2(defensiveness) + 6(defend) + 87(d100) = 95 Damage: 131 - 95 = 36% * 10 = 4 - 8(deflect) = -4: ineffective While Maka is readily able to smack the huge insect, its chitinous covering proves quite impenetrable and the thing rights itself as quickly as it is rolled.

Raven Elk grabs a firebrand from the smoking/curing fire in his left hand while jabbing with his spear in his right.

He hopes to scare them off with the fire or jab at their heads/eyes with his spear; hoping that the head and eyes are less armored.

Taylar shakes his head to clear the fog. He knows if he takes too many blasts like those he will fall on his face and his friends will have to drag him out of there. He swings again, this time instead of an overhand smash he swings his weapon to knock the beetle away from him as well as doing damage.

GM: At least that is what Raven Elk thinks to himself, as he is already 10 paces (~60') from the fire. Something to remember for the future, as running back and forth would prove hindersome rather than helpful.

GM: Raven Elk has a sudden epiphany as he jabs his spear at another beetle. ~Perhaps if I will soon be able to generate fire like Vittero did. That would cook these insects.~ OOC: Raven Elk: 11(fury) + 20(lethality) + 20 (attack) + 74 (d100) = 155 Beetle: 2(defense) + 6(defend) + 87(d100) = 95 Damage: 155 - 95 = 60% * 20 = 12 - 8(deflect) = 4 Body: 4 - 4 = 0: incapacitated Hitting the head is more difficult than one might expect, but Raven Elk's stan is still effective. Once again finding a chink in the chitin, he stabs through rendering the insect incapacitated.

GM: Taylar shakes the fuzzies from his head, breathing out heavily at the affront to his mental faculties. He whirls his granbaton back around at the stinking beetle. Having already hit this insect once before, it too is slightly dazed, already. OOC: Taylar: 11(fury) + 18(lethality) + 21(attack) + 90(d100) - 40(daze) = 100 Beetle: 2(defense) + 6(defend) + 87(d100) - 10(daze) = 85 Damage: 100 - 85 = 15% * 10 = 2 Mind: 1 - 2 = -1: unconscious Body: 4 - 1 = 3: hurt Knocking the beetle aside for a second time seems to have done the trick. The insect does not right itself. It lays on its back with its legs twitching involuntarily.

GM: Vittero suddenly realizes that with the hardened carapaces covering the beetles backs, perhaps smacking at the insect with the flat of his blade might prove more effective. OOC: Vittero: 11(fury) + 20(lethality) + 19(attack) + 71(d100) = 121 Beetle: 2(defense) + 6(defend) + 87(d100) = 95 Damage: 121 - 95 = 26% * 5 = 1 Mind: 2 - 1 = 1: mildly dazed Vittero does not hit the beetle as hard as he was hoping to, but it still had some effect.

OOC: This completes the second combat sequence: There are 3 remaining beetles. There are 3 dead or incapacitated beetles There is 1 dazed beetle Taylar: Mind = 4: dazed Maka: Mind = 7: mildly dazed Sequencing needs to be re-determined. Everyone roll % and post results in LINE.

GM: Reacting before Taylar, the nearest beetle to him does not spray any more noxious spittle. It begins shuffling away. Using the reach of his long club, Taylar merely takes a single stride, swinging the granbaton around at another beetle. OOC: Taylar: 11(fury) + 18(lethal) + 21(attack) + 76(d100) = 126 Beetle: 2(defensiveness) + 6(defend) + 81(d100) = 89 Damage: 126 - 89 = 37% * 10 = 4 - 2(soak) = 2 Mind: 2 - 2 = 0: unconscious While attempting to knock one beetle into another did not come to pass, one more insect out of commission will have to do.
