Twisted Lore?

Anyone got Twisted Lore by Fantasy Flight Games yet? Any comments about the book? I noticed there were no reviews of it yet and was fishing for comments :)

I picked it up, and after reading most of it I quite like it. I'm a sucker for oozes, and there are some great ones in TL. I also like wierder monsters in general -- so aberrations are always appreciated (and again, there are some very cool ones). Shapechangers I'm less excited about, but they're less of a focus in TL.

Overall, I consider it well worth the money. I haven't spent any time trying to crunch the numbers and see if they got the details right (appropriate CRs, bonuses, etc.), but other than some typographical/editing mistakes I haven't noticed any obvious problems.

There are a handful of real standouts for me -- monsters I'm just itching to use in a game -- but I can't mention them because at least one of my players reads the boards. ;)

Edit: noticing your sig, which monsters in TL did you have your hand in creating? In any case, congrats on helping to write an enjoyable monster book. :)

Well, I was given 7 oozes and 1 aberration to write. I think FFG was trying to test me on how creative I could be by giving me a lot of Oozes, who are often bland monsters with little description. ;) I don't know how many of the 8 I wrote were added to the book, because not all words I submitted were accepted. However, I did send in the Queen Ooze, Guardian Ooze, Poltergeist Worm, Phantasmal Jelly, Sailor's Bane, Steel Ooze, Noble Ooze (what a challenge, this one), and the Puffball Ooze.

I am still waiting for my contributor's copy, so I do hope my name is listed on the inside cover ;)

Over all, it was a fantastic experience writing for FFG and am hoping I get another chance to do it again :)

Your name is indeed listed under "Writers." :)

As far as which of your contributions made the cut...

In:

queen ooze (as ooze queen)
poltergeist worm
phantasmal jelly
sailor's bane
steel ooze

Out:

guardian ooze
noble ooze
puffball ooze

I particuarly liked the ooze queen, phantasmal jelly and sailor's bane. Nice work. :D

Any chance we'll see your missing three elsewhere?

Well, if they'll let me, I can post them on Realms of Evil in the Beastiary section. I'll have to ask first :D

I thought the Guardian Ooze was pretty good myself. I even used one in a game recently and the creature left my players in awe. I guess it wasn't what they were looking for in the concept they sent me :) (An ooze made of force energy...basically a force ooze).

Yay! Good to hear we got published together Brannon :)

I picked up my copy, read, and I'm very pleased. I especially like the Werecrocodiles.

I wonder if someone has come up with the Werebeaver yet? If not, I might.

Where is your signing taking place at, Brannon? If it's anywhere near where I am, i'll see about getting a ride over there :)

The oozes were pretty interesting to write up. I have to give credit to H.P. Lovecraft for inspiration on them, that and many of the various evil beasties I forge daily :)
